  1. @fizz, couldn’t you just put it down to doing the rest of BoXa.net a favour by trying Zorstec out😂   I would be interested to hear how it goes or not. Shipley is not too far so would be very interested in the outcome.

Just checking the 986 out prior to an MOT and I don't think that the headlight washers work, (what a surprise!).

Ignition on, headlights on, pull wash/wipe stalk, wipers and washers operate on the windscreen but nothing out of the headlight jets.

Is this the correct operation before I start pulling things apart?

@phazed      Ignition on, headlights on dip or main, then push the wash/wipe away from you, the stalks pop up & the washers work.

No 3.2 S exhaust as yet but maybe thats a good thing for me! :D

    Cheers for the link mate!

@fizz They haven’t had a 3.2 S exhaust for more than 18 months, as that is how long I have been following them on eBay! Refreshing to hear that they are a good outfit though.

  4. Took it for a damm good thrashing to The Motorist @ Sherburn in Elmet for a German car meet & the Christmas market. Stacked out with people cars being limited to get in! Weather was a nice 11c so hood down etc very enjoyable. Will definitely need the power washer/snow foam, as it’s red I might just give it a Santa’s beard!

May '04 registration is perfectly possible, would indicate a Feb or March build date.  I there are some 986s on 54 plates so registered after 1st September 2004.  987 production started in volume in August 2004 with the '05 model year.

@1/2 cwt, the OP says 94 not 04.

While I'm , or rather they, are in there.  Nothing special and the extra cost is marginal.

I've done all the reading... if nothing else it makes the car more saleable if I decide to upgrade next year..

    mine is May 94 986S..

the clutch needs doing as the fingers are very creaky and it slips a bit on fast starts..

@greenman986s I will have you a bet it is not a May 94 986S ! suspect you have a typo there.

  7. @Graham BGTS I have the PDLS + headlights on mine & they do this, when I first bought the car I had it checked out by OPC, & the technician explained that they are vented with a tube, & if they do not clear after about 20 mins of use then there is an issue. I don’t use the car a lot @ night now so can’t say whether it still happens.

  8. Thanks for all your replies Guys, I spoke to my OPC & they said it needs the PCG-043-210-52  Classic gear oil, so they ordered for me 3 Ltrs, @ a cost of £26-02 per Ltr inc Vat & PCGB discount.

The oil was fitted by my Indie on Wed when he did minor service & MOT.  He said the oil removed was the original, as was not very nice & the drain plugs etc had never been removed before etc so were still in good condition, although the alloy washers were a bit fluffy round the edges.

The gear change is now improved on before, so good result there, & oil good for another 20 years!

  9. @ATM  I would be interested in how you get on with those Titanium bleed nipples, I suggested them to my indie & he said he won’t use them as the thread is not quite right. So will be interested in how you get on.

  10. @iborguk. @1/2cwt  thank you for your replies, sorry I should have said it was a 6 speed manual gearbox, I do some further research, the current oil has been in 21 years I believe, so suspect I will go with the Porsche Classic stuff.
