  1. There is a 986 hardtop for sale on PCGB website in R3 which is NE England it’s silver with black lining & seller is looking for £500. Hope this is oK to bring to the forums attention , it is no connection to me.

  2. Sounds as though you have a micro switch sticking on, I got mine fixed by sending to www.keyfobrepair.co.uk £35-00 they charge, good outfit been used many times by members on here.

  3. Just thought that I would update this, having done a load of Google research etc I found a you tube video on cleaning the light switch on a 996 turbo ( same switch ) which shows you how to clean the switch contacts using an aerosol of switch cleaner. I must confess I was skeptical, but followed the video having bought a £7-80 can off the bay of thieves, and hey ho I now have working headlights again. Let’s just hope it continues to work.

  4. @edc  no neither could I, but when I asked my indie about it, the first thing he told me was if it's just dipped beam it is nearly always the ignition switch @ fault!

  5. @T911UK@1/2cwt @edc  Thanks for your replies guys, I am going to moniter the car over the next week or so and see how it behaves, but as I very rarely use the car @ night it is not a pressing issue, also I am having left hip replacement surgery @ end of November, I suspect it will be a new year project! I spoke to my Indie to day and he reckons ignition switch is the most likely cause.

  6. @1/2cwt Just reading on the web that the ignition switch can also cause problems with dipped beam headlights, the question is how to identify which is the problem item? Anyone got any ideas?

  7. Had trouble with my light switch tonight, no dipped beam coming on, wiggled it around pushed it in, pulled fog lights on, got lights to come on. My question is anyone used switch cleaner on these with any success? If so how?
I suspect new switch is required, are there any viable alternatives to the genuine Porsche part?
    Any info gratefully received.

  8. I have a 3.0 Macan S petrol in which I have done just over 4K miles since I bought it, on a run - anyone remember those ? I can get 30-34mpg, but the running total on the computer since I took delivery is 22.4mpg, but that is lot of local runs. I didn’t buy it for economy, if I want economy it take the 986🤣

  9. @Stuart21UK Have done just over 3000 miles since I picked car up & the PCM tells me I have averaged 23.6 mpg, but I do mostly 5-6 mile commute with odd decent journey. On a 60 mile round trip this week I got 27mpg, on a decent motorway run i can get 32mpg.

  10. I have been running a Gen1 2018 Macan S for 10 months now, and can honestly say it is the best daily car I have ever owned, it is supremely comfortable, handles incredibly well for nearly 2 tons, goes like stink, but it does have a thirst! If I want economy I go out in the 986! @Menoporschemine has headlamp washers with the LED headlamps, but they are the top ones that alter the beam pattern etc when you come to junctions/corners etc.
