Anybody got a price from Costco on 265/35/20, N rated.
I tried to get a price recently from and gave up! I like using them as in my local one at least the tyres are always a few weeks old. Slowest fitters out there which is a bit of a nuisance.

Funny enough not always. I think there's been one or two occasions where I bought something from them and then saw it a bit cheaper the next day on D911 (usually with a code or something, but still).
Usually, I buy from D911 because I don't have the time or the inclination to drive 5 or 6 miles to go get it myself. Pure laziness.
I always get my stuff from Type911 in Beckenham. Very local to me though and I collect, not post.

I took the car for its first MOT on my ownership yesterday and all advisories sorted and the cars looks quite tidy underneath as well apart from the manifold bolts. I have managed a couple of thousand miles in it and have to say, quite like the car!
The colour is not the best to keep clean, especially since I took our water softener out of service as you need to dry it down quickly to avoid water marks.
A local body shop tidied up the rear bumper and very pleased with how it looks now. Also, I found some spray wax in a kit that VW supplied with my daily and I might be a convert to it when I see how it works when the air temperature is a bit hotter.
Spray the wax on the car when it’s wet and then micro fibre the car dry a couple of panels at a time then buff the whole car with a clean cloth when finished. Doesn’t take that long and certainly pops, helped by the fact that I clawed and polished the car last year.

To me the question is the difference between my 3.2 Boxster at 250 bhp and the 3.4 911 of the same year at 300. I want those 200 cc which give 50 more bhp. Not sure, but I think when the Boxster went from 250 to 260, the corresponding extra 200 cc gave the 911 320!
its like the Boxster is de tuned… -
I had a lot of PSM error codes on my 996. Pretty certain it was related to volts. Despite new battery, if I didn’t use for a couple of weeks, error message. Keep it on the ctek and no error codes.

not sure what year yours is and if they work with different versions but I am sure some one will tell you.

What year is the car? (I can't remember). Might be worth dropping a pre-emptive note to Steve Strange at Douglas Valley as to whether he has a model year matching set of alarm/immobiliser components just in case JMG say it is a write off...
This. @phazed i am sure I saw one on faceache with key and all the components needed to give the car and new digital id.

Car has been in the local paintshop this week as the rear bumper was a bit scratched when I bought it and someone made it worse in a car park. Great price but it took just under 4 months before they could fit me in and now I wish I had the front bumper sorted at the same time as it looks so good.
This morning I popped along to a local Porsche meeting at a Brewery in Westerham and a 986 parked next to me and the analogy of his car having cataracts was made.. -

Were you monitoring prices much? I'm guessing you sold at the start of the drop, probably got out just in time, financially!
As far as I could see, the drop started happening about a month after I bought my 986 in May.. From June onwards, I noticed that not that much was selling. Then in July and August the only cars I saw selling were low teens - including a couple on here from memory. I waited as I planned to run them both for a few weeks to make sure I was happy with the 986 before getting rid of the 996 and was paying a lot of attention to pricing. Thankfully, I needed the space, not the money, so I sat it out and didnt lower the price. I took an autotrader advert that lasted till the car was sold - £85 or £90 which was about 50% more than a month advert. I just checked and it took about 2 months from the autotrader advert going live. I thought it was longer than that.

I have made peace with the fact that this 986 will be an ongoing project for the next few years. But then again, what else was I going to do with my time and money
Perfect summary and the 986 is a lovely car!
Re the price, last autumn I achieved £18k for my 2000 996 without some of the big investments that one has had, plus it’s a 4 which I thought had greater value? It probably depends how quickly he needs it or wants it gone.
There are plenty of people who sent private messages on Facebook trying to talk my price down into the mid to low teens. -

Was it the one for about £7k with a ticking noise? Imagine if you could buy it for that and it's only a loose spark plug. Not sure I have the balls, certainly don't have the money!
No, it’s a silver coupe. advert below and looks good in the pictures

Until very recently I was seriously considering a 996 or 997 Carrera but everyone I've spoken with and all the research I've done on the matter points to the Boxster being a much more engaging drive. For the moment I'll stick with my 147 as a work car and the Boxster as a weekend car. If and when the 147 dies I'll revisit the idea of a 996/7 again.
I went 987-996-986. The 911 is lovely (and there is a cracker for sale at the moment on Facebook must resist) but I prefer the Boxster as a car and to drive.

No, I'm talking about bypass pipes.
Google Oettle.
Found it. Thank you.
Do you have this system? I wonder what it is like for drone on faster/longer journeys? -

f it were me (and this is what I've done recently) I would save your money, save the trip and / or the posting to Carnewal and get bypass pipes fitted at your local friendly garage. They sound just as good as the Carnewal system. Google Oettle to see what I'm on about.
Are you referring to the one sold by Spyder performance with the key fob? If so, I have thought about those and decided against them.

I have one for several years. I sent an exhaust to him and he did the job and sent it back.
I suppose that would be an option but I asked about exchange and he said bring it to him. I see your car has sports cats and different manifolds. What sort are they please?

Had one of these on my 996t, looks completely standard, but modified internals and a lot more 'gruff' than the standard item. They also offer fitting, so if you've ever needed an excuse to go and stock up on Belgian chocolates and beer...
I am thinking about one of these and Carnewal don’t sell them for the 986 due to the many variations and charge €390 to do your car in their workshop. I would love to hear a 986 if anyone in the south east has one please?
987 seats in a 986?

I took our water softener out of service when it went wrong as the replacement one a family plumber got for us would have needed a bit of reorganising in the garage. We have just received a special offer on bags of salt at £18! We used to pay £6!
