ws it a 1.8 or 2.0? the whole driving position, gear change and steering is extremely good. the Boxster feels very refined in comparison

I sourced one of these for my son recently. mk2.5 1.8 and its not fast in a straight line but seriously responsive and nimble. such fun to drive and he is using it as his daily car. They do seem prone to rust though!

I had one of those for my 996 and it doesn't work if you have any form of short shift on it, or at least mine didnt!

You can have a try of my 2001 relay next time I am local if you don't mind waiting or pop over and borrow it if urgent? Assuming the part is accessible?

On the plus side, the wheels had just been refurbished but I probably am not going to use them!
Can you ping me some pics of the wheels please?

New ignition switch arrived this afternoon. Decided that I would rather have my fingers as they are rather then wannabe frozen fish fingers in the garage. Hopefully will man up tomorrow and see if fitting it will solve a few electrical gremlins!
Wimp.

Hi
Sorry to hijack but if he doesnt want it what sort of money are you after, my car is a PDK so has a rad behind the centre grille so really need something
Not looking for any money. If you want it and @Porschevirgin1968 who I offered it to first of all doesn’t want it, pm me your address and I will put it in the post for you when he confirms he doesn’t need it. If you end up with it, we used to be involved in this charity and they always need money but absolutely no pressure or need to do anything. https://www.pwpg.org.uk

ordered the Zunsport front centre grille to go with the 2 small front grilles already fitted
If it is on back order, I have one for a 987 I can stick in the post for you if you have the option of cancelling. It has never been used

I have just been browsing through the various pages on suspension upgrades on the Design911 site. I have already spent at least 6K in my mind! Obviously this isn’t going to happen and having all these sweets on the shelf just makes life difficult!
No swapping nitron suspension for track days with this one!

Have noticed that there is a set of Koni Special Active Dampers available at Design 911 for £744 delivered. Obviously I would have to buy a good quality set of springs to match. Was thinking that a set of Eibach uprated springs would be a good match.
Anyone had any experience of these?
There is loads of stuff on 996 suspension options on 911uk. Different cars for sure but lots of similar parts. 12 cars with a variety of brands and specifications. The organiser Mike / Maldren is fairly local and seems like a helpful guy the couple of times I have met him. Koni/eibach gets a mention

Part of me considers removing the roof completely and sourcing a hardtop as it is just for Track Days but alternatively, it is really nice to have the roof off in good weather when barreling around a track…
I was going to suggest that. The hard top is not that heavy and could be left on the trailer if you want the lid off. It would save a few KGs getting rid of the soft top...

The handbrake is definitely on when you are trying this?

Glad you like it!

I sent a message to someone on Facebook who competes and he suggested a Tractive set-up for the car. I suspect this is not a budget option!

Have a feeling that they produced a 986 specific set some years ago.
They are a good business. I am close enough to collect from the factory and, at least 5 or 6 years ago, they will give you a tour of the whole process and it's lovely to see. Not sure I would have Derek fit them for me again but that's a TVR thing.

Well done on selling the Skoda. Looked good last time I saw it so not surprised it has gone. Why not give Gaz a call? I will be amazed if they don’t have something to suit.
Haven’t a clue about the details for next year but a good steer above. I will have a nosey for you on faceache for you as well and let you know if I find anything -
Hi Peter, not sure how quick you want this all ready to go (has the Skoda sold?) but it might be worth getting along to the Boxster 986 one make race series and speaking with them. There are lots of levels of teams with dedicated crew through to enthusiasts. All seemed very helpful when I was looking at the different wheel options at Brand Hatch in September

Well, the temperature gauge was sorted, had not been ran after having new coolant and it's now sitting on my drive, needs some TLC but got it for a very good price. Pics to follow, could not get any last night as it was dark. No issues coming back. Think my gear changing needs some practice after driving autos for the last 5 years lol.
Congratulations. You have had a few false starts during the search and now the fun and reward starts! Enjoy. Also, new coolant and these cars always makes me think has it been bled correctly - hopefully so.

The sockets have all the empty pin spaces for the wiring and you can get the male and female pins, so if you were determined you could make it up from the wiring diagram....
Not that determined! I was hoping that the wiring to the seat at least would all be there. Clearly not!

Apparently easier to get yourself a Waco (?) aftermarket kit than retrofit the originals, apparently the electrics aren't straightforward. Mount the switches on the side of the seat, less wiring than to the dash.
Thanks. I was hoping the seats would be pre-wired! Sounds like that is not the case

It has heated seats
I don’t have a glove box or a glass screen or heated seats but after wizzing around in the silver thing with the roof off this afternoon which does have heated seats, it’s very tempting to retrofit them!

Goodluck @Porschevirgin1968 You have a lovely day for it, down south at least, hopefully roof down on the way back...
