  1. Hi @Afrikaneryes that’s the company. Cost was a lot more than Perspex but obviously the quality is higher. It is also handy for use as a solid mounting point for a GoPro camera too. The Porsche lettering decals - I actually applied 2 sets - firstly a white one and then over the top of that, a dark grey one - the white one shows in the rear view mirror, looking from the inside outwards, and the dark grey one is what you see from the outside, looking in - very subtle!! Needed a bit of patience to line the 2nd decal over the first!

Not sure if you’ve taken a look at the 3 or 4 part European road trip videos on TPN TVs channel, but that was us and the trip I’d arranged and put together. We’re hoping to do it again Sept this year, but depends on if restrictions have lifted enough of course, hopefully also 2 options - longer trip for those who can be away for longer, meeting up with those than]t can’t in Stuttgart for the 2nd leg.

my best friend @Saxosimlives nearby, and was on that road trip. He’s made some fantastic subtle mods to his 986S, and we’re both long overdue a bit of a trip up and into Scotland, so we might try and sort something for sure, although it might end up being next year if our sept road trip goes ahead, as we are both also busy in July on a London to Paris cycle challenge in memory of my son Adam who lost his battle with a brain tumour 23rd Dec 2019, aged just 27.
If we’re still confined to the UK for the road trip then I’m sure we’d look into heading north for a few days!

  2. @Withy do you REALLY need the compass (you have satnav after all.... )

id ditch that, and go for the larger capacity fuel tank (you’re going for the GTS after all ️ 😀), and I’d also find a way to stretch to adding the blind spot/lane change option - fantastic option on ours I wouldn’t now be without on a future macan. Didn’t realise how dynamic the system was - eg if you’re doing 30mph and a car coming along and overtaking you at 40mph, the lane change warning in the body of the door mirror will not be as “early” as when you’re doing 60 and a car comes up doing 90 - it will warn you MUCH earlier. Completely logical, but impressive that it will pick up the faster moving vehicle from WAY back....

serious question, is there much of a difference in height between you and your good lady? I know memory seat option does bring a few other settings, but again that would be something I could live without in order to tick the above....

im uncertain about the Mojave interior colour - I’d want to see it in the flesh, doesn’t seem to do much for me on the configuration pics. Ours is black and it doesn’t make it feel gloomy inside, more a case of feeling sporty. I like the idea of Mojave as long as it didn’t look to be more of a bright grey if that makes sense?

    Just my three sheckles worth!

  3.  cr*p pics, but finally swapped over the side-repeaters on my 981 BGTS to the 911 led ones.

literally took me longer to detach the multi plug / electrical connector than it did to remove and replace the actual indicator unit. Plenty of how-to’s on you tube so didn’t bother with capturing mine.

a VERY subtle mod that most won’t notice, but then we’re mostly all afflicted with the same OCD with these cars!

  4. My thoughts exactly the same John, don’t want to feck it up by simply not releasing a didn’t know is there etc.

having seen all the cr*p that @Toeside dropped out once he removed his bumper, I know there will still be quite a bit unseen, but at least I’ve cleared what was there at the front, before the grilles went back on.

Did that lot get past the grills?

No John, took the grilles off in November prior to an inspection. Have done about 350 miles without them on, so not huge build up in there, but once lockdown eased and I’m back out in it....

woudl ideally like to take the front bumper off and I’m sure I’ll find loads more debris, but just lacking a bit of confidence to do that despite some very good how-to guides on YouTube etc. Would prefer to wait and probably get some help, once restrictions lifted.

  6. Vacuumed out front intakes on my 981 GTS, removing a good few small stones, bits of twig, the odd half dead wasp, then put my Zunsports back on.

side repeater - 911 led type - is next. Have the parts, just a case of getting round to it albeit it is only a 10 min job apparently.

Fronts will easily do this year, so will change them end of the year with interim service, or this time next year.

Hmmm, 3 observations from this photo, now I see them:

    1. The suction from that fatter black tube on the right is strong if it can suspend the rear of the car like that!!

    2. that’s NOT my engine, out of the car! Paraphrasing Michael Caine, “you were only supposed to take the [rear] wheels off!”

    3. The lighting and angle of the pic, plus reflections, makes the rear spoiler look as though it has a hollow section in the centre....

That’s a great pic David, if it wasn’t for the reflection I’d consider it in a calendar.

Thanks Meno, yes shame really. Just grabbed a quick snap. If I’d have thought a bit more about it, I’d have asked to pop into the workshop for the shot, sans reflection....

rears now nicely scrubbed-in: left Teesside OPC (roof down of course!), back to Tyneside, met up with @Saxosim and our friend Al with his Speed Yellow 997 C4S and went for a 120 ish mile blast in Northumberland.

wonder if I can pop the car back to Teesside and tell them they’ve “missed a bit” when washed it 😭

  10. Well, a year has gone by and I’ve just renewed again with A-Plan. Managed to shave a little from the renewal figure, and a little lower than 2019’s premium

A-Plan were very helpful and efficient, M*nn**gs still several hundred pounds more, and PCGB’ partner Locktons basically said no point the wasting my time going through all the info, they’d be many hundreds adrift of my renewal figure.

didnt bother calling AS Flux, couldn’t be bothered with their approach - basically whatever they offer/ quit is there and them, to get you to go for it. Bit of a hard sell, which I don’t like.

hoping A-Plan come in competitive on the macan insurance when that’s due in April.

  11. Hi all, looking through this old thread, the general consensus I’ve picked-up seems to be that A-Plan are a decent outfit?

I’m renewing my insurance for the 3rd time on my BGTS, first year was with M***ings, second year with AS F**x.

Very happy with both previous insurers, but renewal with current insurer is up by about £100 - with no motoring convictions, accidents/claims or modifications or change of address etc to justify the increase.

Can’t get through to L**kt*ns who are a PCGB partner, and M***nings to be fair are at least consistent with what they’d quoted last year, but still several hundred ££’s adrift from where I am.

A-Plan have just given me a very palatable quote - that’s before I read here they’ll offer some discount for BoXa.net members - and having discussed level of cover etc on the phone, I’m heading towards renewing with them - even if Fl*x suddenly “lose” the additional £100 proposed renewal, for retaining my business. I value any company that will work hard to offer their most competitive rates from the off, without requiring a lengthy to & fro to get there.

Reading this thread, doesn’t look like I have anything to worry about going with A-Plan?

    David
