  1. I’ve had it on both my boxster, a 981 and 987.........you can tell immediately when it is working or not but I guess if you bought a car with it initially not working then you may not realise.......but no matter what as soon as you press the button you notice a change in tone of the engine even at idle.......my understanding is that both the 981 and 987 work the same ie I have basically the same engine / exhaust in my 987 as I did in my 981.....the only difference being the 981 has the sound symposer into the cabin but not sure if the 987 does ?.....also my 981 was  a GTS which has different mapping again and made the PSE all the sweeter over a normal S......in summary to my ear my 987.2 S with PSE sounds the same as a 981 S with PSE but does not sound like a 981GTS due to the different engine mapping the GTS has........it sounds glorious but the GTS was on a different level again....

I also don’t class it as cheating as the sound symposer is the actual sound of the engine / induction from the engine but just piped into the cabin, it is not a fake artifically created noise that you find in some cars, its like saying a track car is a fake noise as it has less sound deadening and therefore is louder in the cabin 😉

The PSE works by the valve by default being open, when you turn the ignition on the initial sound is with the PSE on and then the valves shut so the default why the car is being driven is PSE off, when either the PSE button is pressed or the ignition is turned off the valve is opened again.......I thought it could stick in either position but is more likely to stick in the open position ie PSE on as that is its “resting state” when the car is just parked up......the light on the PSE will not be lit but in effect the valve is stuck open so PSE is active and cannot be switched off as the valve has stuck .......I may be completely wrong with that but that was my understanding......

The first thing I do when I get in the car is switch the PSE on, many just disconnect the electrics that operate the valve so that it is always left on but I like the drama of pressing the button, the option to have it off (which I never use but its there), the fact the PSE light is lit in the car and it also ensure the valve works and my logic is therefore less likely to seize through never moving .....

I have always said there are 3 essentials for a boxster road use = PASM (with DSC module), sport Chrono (even in a manual) and PSE.......they all alter the character of the car and add to the “sports car” experience which is what a boxster should be all about so why wouldn’t you want them.....makes no sense to me

Mark, there’s nothing you can teach me about bending and mending cars. I spent twenty-five years of my younger life (and a fortune in cash) doing just that, all in the pursuit of lap times. I owned and modded several track cars, both naturally aspirated and turbocharged. All of them were LOUD. But here’s the rub ....every single growl, pop, bang, hiss and squeal was real, the natural consequence of a heavily modified vehicle being driven hard.
If it floats your boat to tool around public roads playing racing-driver in your synthesised toy then, by all means, knock yourself out. Porsche know very well there is one born every minute. You are just number eleventy-seven thousand four hundred and something...

Funniest car related statements I’ve read in quite a while lol....I guess we should all just hands the keys over to our sports cars and buy a Tesla .....what colour are you getting ?

  3. ????? The above confirms what I do when the remote has not been used for over 7 days and the car is in sleep mode ie insert key into drivers door lock, manually unlock the car to “wake up” the car but DO NOT open the door......press the unlock key on the remote to disable the alarm and you can then open the drivers door ............I think you need to rotate the key barrel with the key to wake up the car not just lift the handle ......I’ve never tried it but that not what the above from the owners manual says

  4. So after 5 months in hibernation and a month of messing around in the 993 the boxster is back on the road........

I “got away” with no MOT last year as it was due in July but the government had extended MOT’s covering that period for 6 months and so by the time it went in hibernation at the end of October there was no need to get one......but it did mean it was out of MOT now ......fortunately you are legally allowed to drive to a pre booked MOT without an MOT so I took advantage of Halfords Free MOT offer and booked it in

..........I literally took the cover off the car (its been on a battery maintainer), woke it from sleep mode by using the drivers lock to unlock it with the key, put the cover in the frunk ......and drove to the MOT centre

They where very efficient at the test centre.....normal putting plastic sheet on the drivers seat but then wrapping the steering wheel and handbrake with cling film and wearing disposable gloves for the test........the end result ......easy pass with no advisories.......the best £0 I have spent all day

So good to get the car back on the road.......really forgot how rifle the short shift gear change is on these things and how eager the engine is to press on......when you enter the test centre car park and all the mechanics walk to the bay doors to watch you park you get a nice warm feeling   ......picking up the test certificate the manager just said “its a very clean car, no problems at all”........I drove off content ...and floored it

  5. That car is an 80k miler at least......even the wear on the accelerator peddle is impossible after only 5k miles, same with the wear on the steering wheel.........very bad colour match on paint as well....looks like a right dogs dinner

Went to visit one of the three Indies I'm interested in. They've all got good websites, no one on the forum seems to know any of them. Decided I'd better go and check them out.

  7. Well two of the three cars sold quickly 🥰...with  just the low mileage Harbour Cars one still for sale.....then another new to the list popped up for sale today........#725

I have updated the register and also added some stats for the options fitted to the 28 known cars...

  8. Currently x3 Black Editions advertised on Autotrader which is more than I have seen at once......all strong money 😉

nb also very few 987.2 S for sale, it is winter but all are strong money and if anything have moved up on average in terms of value so far as I can tell...and thats with winter pricing....

    Updated list with x2 cars added (#796 & #850)

  9. I had a mate who had one last year.......looks are fantastic but I still could not do with the faff for the roof.......also they do not sound as good as they used to.......not sure if an aftermarket exhaust would fix that but its due to emissions .....also risks warranty........it was certainly not the best sounding Porsche at our local meets by far but one of the best looking 😉

  10. New one for the list has cropped up on ebay....low mileage 21k, price £30k.....

    No. 850

spec to update list when I get a chance....

    PDK

    none sports seats

    Sport Chrono

    None Bose

    Full climate

    Park assist

    cruise control

    Not full leather

    no PASM or PSE

    Sport “flappy paddle” steering wheel

Looks mint but the wheels have been refurbed without the signature silver strip on the rim

Finally took mine out for a little drive, the first time since before Christmas and the first time since I swapped the rear lights. Car drove fantastic and didn’t miss a beat! Always surprises me how capable these cars really are on the country lanes😉

No error codes from the lights either 👍

Those lights look cool......I’ll have to get some 😉

  12. Been a while since one has been up for sale but Harbour cars have just advertised a nice example.....it has a slightly unusual spec (IMHO) ie manual but "comfort" options in preference to things like Sport chrono and PASM.....low miles

    no. 187

    25,450 miles £28,995

  13. Well the car would normally go into winter storage at this time of year anyway but tier 3 covid restrictions made that inevitable.......I've really not used it that much this year despite decent weather as just been limited re travel due to covid .......but if nothing else I have enjoyed just looking at it on the drive 😁

So the car went into storage on the 20/10/20 and this morning I had chance to overinflate the tyres by 4PSI........it will likely sit here now until next March

I did pick up a couple of second hand bargains recently.......

....small hand held master blaster (filtered warm air) for drying tyres. I have a large unit but don't always use it........I think I'll use this most of the time for smaller areas....it has quite a kick...
