They only deal with prestige vehicles. He did my rear bumper when first purchased 6 years ago.

May be looking at Goodyear next time if pennies are that tight?

New house roof and loft boarding has put a dent in my finances (it was planned but still hurts lol)

cross over pipes replaced and now the tyres , insurance next week ..... everything has come together, hence the need to save where possible, but they have to be Michelins on a 3.4L Boxster imo

  3. Brand new Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S fitted to the front and a fresh MOT.

advised the rears are low and one has a nail .

MPS4S for the rear are £385 per tyre, but to replace the existing MPS2 (N2) is £240 a tyre with discounts .

It's a slight change but still Michelins all round, and after spending  £1k on cross over pipes, I need to save where possible

A simple 60 second check of your tyres would’ve saved you having an advisory on your MOT history.
I always give my cars, a thorough check over before an MOT.

In my mind, (possibly a little OCD) I really want to keep the MOT history as clean as possible.

My car wants for nothing and I thought the tyres would be fine, they just failed and will be rectified with premium tyres. I don't see an issue here. Plenty of forum members know me and my car and it's not one maintained on a budget.

  5. Not today, last week actually.

was having to top up the coolant on my 987.2 and suspected it was more than just a little weeping of the cross over pipes (my mechanic had warned me on the annual service last year)

£1100 later its all done. Did get the "check coolant level" a few times the day after, and consulted said mechanic. He informed the Boxster system needs to be filled under vacuum, which was done, but airlocks can occur. Refilled next morning and good as gold!

the Gen 2 cars don't suffer from the IMS and bore score issues of the earlier cars, and they also avoid the stupid road tax period

Well specced?  Heated Seats, Sports Chrono, Extended Leather, PSE, BOSE, climate control is a good start point. Look for the central wind deflector and zunsport grilles. I prefer the looks of the bigger wheels, so 19" are desirable to me, but others prefer the 18" as they are slightly softer. PASM and Ceramic Brakes are nice to have, but again, make sure they have been recently serviced/replaced or they will cost you a lot to sort.

PCM with the integrated sat nav is preferable, but its getting on a bit and will get you most places, but if you want Apple Play and the latest maps you'll want to update it.

If you want to go mad and have everything ticked, you need to buy @Bike Loon's car which is probably the most specced car we've seen on the forum.

Your describing my car again Matt, which will be on sale in the near future. OP wants a manual though 🙏🏽

I must be dreaming but I swore there was a find me a 987.2 thread and then the helpful folks in here popped a load of links etc

I was considering a 981 but the ones that meet the spec seem to be still close to £30k
    My man maths is my well specced 2.7 987.1 (gt silver, cruise, full leather, heated seats PSE, Lobsters, 73K, bose -pioneer Carplay) is worth around £10-11k so another £10k ish should get me a nice 987.2 ie £20k {ish 😉}

    I do want a 3.4 and PDK,
I'd like sports chrono (or just sports if that's an option).
Full leather as it does lift the thing you sit in for hours. Sports seats would be nice but as long as heated then I'm ok with the normal ones.
Cruise is lovely so I'd like that- again I could retrofit but it was a mission to get the parts.
I know condition and history is king but Mileage I'd like to keep under 70k unless there was a documented invoices one with all the parts and load of work done type deal....
Colour I am not so fussed on but I didn't really want a white one or one with an odd colour leather - I'm boring and like the black leather.
Bose I dont care on, it was a must for my 2.7 but honestly its not all that and I would but a double DIN again as it makes it modern.

Given that some parts are impossible to find - like full leather dash - and would be tiresome to fit then its something that I need it to come with!
Cruise is probably the one that I'd consider not being there as its possible to fit afterwards.

If I could easily PDK mine and make it quicker then I think I'd do that - but I don't reckon I could buy all the parts from a 987.2 PDK 3.4 for 10g's 🤣

If someone @Araf maybe? could direct me to the thread I cant find - there seems to not be that many around and I do know that I am being a little bit fussy. I'm also hoping that someone will have spotted something I missed. I look on Autotrader, Ebay, Pistonheads almost daily...

    cheers all

You are basically describing my car and guess what, I'm thinking of selling to scratch the 911 itch.

BOSE (with updated Pioneer apple car play)

71k miles and recently serviced including the PDK 12 year oil change.

  8. We just jumped from a BMW X3 30d to a 2018 Macan S.

was worried about transfer case and leaks, but had it inspected and all good so far. I keep toying with OPC warranty which will cost £1800 over two years.

    my thoughts so far:

the 3L twin turbo is sublime mates to the PDK gearbox.

It looks better than the X3 which I loved and kept for 7 years.

X3 had better cabin storage, but looked bland even in M Sport guise.

The Macan is juicy compared to the diesel.

ride quality is better than the X3. Macan is on 21" wheels, X3 was on 19"

would I go back to the X3?
    NO
It was a great car, that served our family well, but having 2 Porsches on the drive is lovely, and the Macan gets lots of admiring glances.

I'm thinking of upgrading to the 2022 version in a year or two.

Take the ugly, bulky plinth off, polish the bodywork and use a vinyl stick on, www.onestopnumberplates.co.uk that are road legal. You keep the appealing aerodynamic curves of the front bumper and they enhance the front view of the car and are an attractive "add" to the car.

Exactly what i did and looks so much better. Kept the plinth for sale time

If the drains are blocked, where or how does the water enter the car?

If the rear drains are blocked then the water pools in the membrane that sits under the roof (in open position) .... and seeps through the engine access cover in the cabin (behind the seats)

Worth having a feel behind your seats periodically. I keep a rolled up microfibre towel behind each seat and check them occasionally (clear my drains twice a year  but you know, just in case)

Even though I'm sure my drains are clear, I snaked them with a trombone cleaner when I got the car, there is alway water still in the channel at the drain grommet the bottom of which is not flush with the bottom of the channel.

Is it just expected to clear through evaporation?

Are you talking about the top rear drain under the deck lid?  Yes there is always a little water left there , as you rightly called out due to drain grommet position.

I tend to open the deck and dry it out when washing the car (and keep that area waxed)

  12. Depends on how the car is used.

    Daily? Yeah I would

Weekend toy, 2nd or 3rd car, then no. You bought a fun convertible for a reason, so use it as intended.

Nothing like dropping the roof on a crisp autumn morning
