It is only a number that happens to represent the number of times a piece of rock has orbited a huge nuclear fusion furnace at a distance of approx. 93 million miles. What's to worry about?
One benefit, most competitive quote to insure the Boxster this year was SAGA!?!

I got 2 t-shirts 'Genius by birth, Grumpy by choice' & 'Made in 1969, aged to perfection'. Take your pick.

Took it to DW Performance for a major service, first since I bought it. All filters pretty clean and plugs condition tallied with the service record. Couple of minor issues, small water leak confirmed in left lower rubber pipe to alloy Y pipe and a small leak in an AC line joint so a dying seal. Also had gearbox oil changed, oil was old but good. Gear change is now very smooth.
Will need coffin arms all round soon...
Also if you are in the area of Wellingborough they are hosting an open day with auction and raffle to raise money for cancer charities tomorrow... see their Facebook for more info.

What a cracking cake 🎂 mate and welcome to the 50 club. Have a nice one 🎂
Thanks all for the best wishes. Might be able to franchise the cake design if you're in the Northampton area.
Spent the day travelling to work in Norway (Ryanair from Stansted 😬), still worse places to be once you get there.

Fitted new flat wiper blades and new head lamp washers from local OPC.

Fitted nice new type 110 Yasau 85Ah battery with a 5 year warranty. Only just over £110 after taking advantage of 60% off at GSF last week.
Recent frosts had killed the previous Bosch S4 fitted by PO only 2 years ago, down to only 9.9 volts! Might I have another electrical drain issue or could it be that the PO had gone for a standard battery (72 Ah) when the car was spec'd with the heavy duty option (do all S have that option may be?) from the factory? Still no false alarms in the night now hopefully and I've put the jump leads back in their bag.

Looks like a model year cut off somewhere as my 2000 S doesn't comply. Cut off must be between 2000 and 2003 judging by posts so far but as the ULEZ checker is easy to use might not be worth putting too much effort in to nailing it down.

Was considering a handbrake adjustment myself, might not now...
By the way one of the breakers on ebay has a 986 with same interior colour as yours they are dismantling at the moment. Might have a replacement cover.

Fitted new stereo head unit so now have DAB and Bluetooth streaming. Boy did the old unit need a hell of a pull to get it out even with the correct Porsche keys, looked like a small bit of adhesive tape may have got in the wrong place. Once strange thing though, since disconnecting the OEM Becker head unit when I lock the car with the remote the horn toots once with the indicator flash, didn't before the head unit change but I can't understand how there might be a connection...?
Also replaced top CD storage unit on lower console for a plain bin. Now got decent space for phones, wallet etc.
What have YOU done to your 986 today ?

Looks like a bonding failure of the compound to the backing plate. What brand/spec are the pads? Have they been on track?
