Hi Davey, Your car is still going strong. All the jobs it needed apart from the corroded exhaust flange bolts now done. It lives out on the drive in all weathers getting used and abused as a daily driver. The new HID bulbs in the headlights even put out enough light now to see the road when driving at night, and they slipped past the MOT tester, with the car passing two MOTs without advisories! It's currently wearing a set of immaculate 18" Cayman wheels with a set of nearly new Michelin Alpin 5 winter M+S tyres that I picked up for a song in the summer. Those tyres really stick like .... to a blanket. The original wheels will go for a powder coating refurb in January.

It's a great car and no plans to sell yet.

That's really nice to hear mate, I'm glad you're still enjoying it.  I spent a fair amount in the first few months of ownership after I bought it, but I've got to say, once those issues were sorted out it proved to be extremely reliable and was a joy to own. It was a fantastic introduction to the Porsche world, obviously made even better by my membership on here...

  3. Looking at the photos, I'd say the one on the left is more likely to be a genuine Porsche part, and the one on the right is probably a replica.  However, I doubt anyone would notice when they're on the car, so as long as you got them for a reasonable price I wouldn't worry too much either way.  I would guess the vast majority of owners on here would go for the Ali Express type centre caps, which I think are around 20 quid a set, and will probably last at least a couple of years.

(Disclaimer: I don't have any knowledge of these, so feel free to ignore my comments - Which is what most people do around here anyway )

Yes, even 4 years later I'm still not quite sure how I've managed to have a Porshe parked on my drive. Enjoy!

I feel exactly the same mate  :thumbsup_still:

Picked her up today, even better than expected.  I've defo got the biggest smile on my face today. Look forward to learning more about the car and brand.

Congratulations mate, enjoy your new car, and don't forget to post a few pics on here when you get time.

Tip: Before you take any photos, be sure to clear any weeds from your driveway, and also line up the pointy bit of the wheel badges with the tyre valves.  People on here get extremely upset if these two "rules" are broken...

For some reason, you 'can't recieve messages' apparently!

I think it might be you that can't send messages mate.  You will need a minimum number of posts on here before you can send messages to other members.

Some even choose to do it as it looks much better! ..... IMHO

Yep, I did the de-badge on my previous Boxster, and it looked much better IMHO (The "B" on the badge was already broken when I bought the car):

Getting back to the original post @Sputty37 you are right to be cautious regarding running costs, but please don't be scared.  At the end of the day, it's a car, and they all have moving parts that wear out and need replacing.  It can go wrong, obviously, but that is true whatever you buy.  Also bear in mind, depreciation on a Porsche is insanely low at the moment, plus servicing intervals can be every 2 years instead of yearly, with alternating minor and major services.  If you can DIY, or take it to an independent, the normal servicing costs aren't that bad really.

Good luck, and I hope you get sorted soon mate :thumbsup_still:

I’ve tried this for both gear knob and handbrake, it looked pants and ended up going a different route.

Now THAT ^ looks excellent, well played fella :thumbsup_still:

  8. Both great looking cars, but I'm afraid the CAT S status would be enough for me to give them a miss (if I was looking - which I'm not).

If I had to choose between them, I'd say the yellow one is probably the better option - after removing those daft side stripes, obviously

Apologies for the wheel centres alignment

Think yourself lucky you didn't show the car parked on a block paving driveway with weeds mate... I've done that before, and now nobody speaks to me on here......

It gets worse - Check out the wheel centre caps......... Oh dear God, can somebody please BAN HIM!!! (or alternatively, just turn the logos to point towards the tyre valves)

I might have a busy evening in that case 😆

I think, like most forums, "speedposting" is frowned upon, so don't be tempted to just post a load of old shyate on here - Leave that to @John K instead

  12. I'd say if a dealer offers you £20K, you should snap their hand off.  Just my opinion, of course, and not based on any particular knowledge of the car trade, but 20 grand seems a lot for a 2010 car :thumbsup_still:

  13. Just wanted to share this little story, but wasn't sure which thread to use, so Mods feel free to move this if required.

I was sat in my car, in our local surgery car park this morning, waiting for my wife to have her flu and C-o-v-i-d jabs.  I had the window down, and an old fella came up to me and said "that's a lovely car, Sir".  I thanked him, and we got chatting, just to pass a bit of time (the wait was about 90 mins...).

He was asking all sorts of questions about the Cayman, and I mentioned how I came to buy the car with my inheritance.  He said that was a great idea, and my Dad would have been so proud.  It struck me that this old guy was only a few years younger than my Dad when he passed away...  Just makes you think, so I thought I'd share it on here.

I've had some nice comments about the car previously, but chatting with this old man really made my day :thumbsup_still:

Porsche warrant for 125k over 15 years so I would say your figure is a little conservative.

To be fair, it did say "at least" 100,000 miles, so that number could be higher.  I'm more worried about the quoted "9 years" - So, I've only got one more year in the Cayman before it explodes then?
