I can report that your old Boxster has dropped from displaying 29.5 to 25.8mpg so aerodynamics is possibly not the correct answer.😜

Nice one mate, you're obviously driving it a bit harder than I did ☺️

  2. Sounds like an open and shut case mate. Generally speaking, if you get rear-ended, the fault (or "blame") always goes to the person who rammed you. In this case, it sounds like you also have grounds to accuse him of "perverting the course of justice" for lying about the circumstances of the crash.

Out of interest, have you got a dash cam?  I wouldn't go anywhere without one these days. There are too many bell ends out there, as you have obviously found out.

    Good luck anyway fella 👍

Out of curiosity what consumption does the butler get for you?

I'm hoping the 26 mpg in my 986S is a bit more acceptable

I just checked, and mine is showing 34.8 mpg on the display, which probably means I drive like a girl...   Or maybe the superior aerodynamics of the Cayman makes it more efficient than a Boxster.  Yes, that's it, the superior aerodynamics must be the correct answer 😂

I remember a comment about poking the bolt into a plastic bag, then trying to fit it, and ripping the bag off after

Are you sure they were talking about cars.....? 😂

I'm thinking of getting one but I'm struggling to find a fitting kit for a reasonable price

    Any suggestions?

Look out for one with the fitting kit included...?

    On your 718 4.0?

And the BoXa award for First World Problems goes to…

I was thinking exactly the same thing... 😂

The centre arm rest storage on the 981 is too shallow to contain my beautifully curved and colour coded Oakley sun glasses it's soooooo annoying. 😊

I'm not sure if Boxsters are the same, but in my Cayman 981 there is a large compartment on the passenger's side. I think it's called a "glovebox" but it can be used for sunglasses and other items as well. Might be worth a try anyway. You're welcome mate 👍

Not heard of this issue before, I wonder how that happened

Looks like something was probably dropped on it - That would annoy the hell out of me, and would need to be fixed (I'm guessing it's not a cheap thing to put right though) ☹️

The usefulness  of  BoXa.net and its helpful members🙂

Try getting a Cayman, and then see how helpful they are.... 😂

Well I’m guessing from your tank range  which is showing….either that or your right foot has fallen off.

What can I say mate, I'm never in a rush, so I just cruise everywhere at low speeds these days 😂

However hard I looked my 2013 981 didn’t have voltage as an option but my 2016 981 does. So the functionality clearly changed at some point, but I don’t know when.

Mine is 2014, and you can see it has the voltage display option, so that might be the year it changed over.  I only discovered it by accident when I noticed there was an option for a 4th line on the display (I think the default is 3 lines) 👍

I guessed at around £1000 from a specialist, not the sort of bill you normally expect from a leaking hose.

Yep, I seem to remember mine was about 1200 quid using a local Indy (not Dovehouse), but can't remember if that included other work at the time, and I'm too lazy to hunt through my old posts to check (and it won't be relevant anyway after a few years)

Im guessing just for this job as it’s a whole day, might be able to squeeze you in.
    Their number is 01933 354144.

Cheers, I've already got their number, as I've used them for all my servicing on the Cayman so far, and they are brilliant 👍

  12. I seem to remember this being a painfully expensive job on my previous Boxster, so hope it goes OK for the OP and anyone else who needs it (Typical of Porsche to make this job reassuringly expensive, even by an Indy)

On a separate note: Just spoke to Dovehouse Motors, they are fully booked until the 18th May - Is that for any work, including normal routine servicing?

Wait, yall are autoreleasing handbrakes? Don't yall pull the button on the lower right side of the dash to release / put it on before and after driving?

Nope, just drive off and the handbrake releases on it's own, as if by magic,.  Who knew that was a "thing"...? 😄

The electronic handbrake had a switch and it can be disengaged manually.

The auto-releasing handbrake is one of the few things I don't like about the 981. It works fine, but it still feels wrong to me (but I can put up with it, of course.) First World problems and all that...☺️

A couple of years after selling my 987 I need that flat 6 noise back in my life, but this time I fancy a Cayman.

Good man, you have my full support, obviously (but be prepared for a backlash from the regulars on here... to be expected I guess!☺️)
