MOT passed no advisory’s, would of been very surprised if it had, but you never know!

Got mine booked in on Monday.  Like you, not anticipating any problems, but I'm off skiing on Friday, so won't have much time to get any issues sorted if it fails... 😂

@Davey P only problem is, you are driving the entry level Porsche as the Boxster costs more. 😉

Not a problem for me matey, I still find it hard to believe that is actually my car, so it's all good as far as I'm concerned 👍

Sorry I should of said mine was a Cayman 😁

Good man, so you will be able to confirm that the Cayman is superior to the Boxster then...? (lights the touch paper, and stands well back 😂)

Just to update it is a 981 manual Boxster that am in the market for.

You should try out a Cayman as well, just so you can see how much better it is compared to a Boxster.... I am pushing my luck there, I know, but it's sort of expected now 😄

That from a man that’s never taken his car over 56 mph ….just saying!

Only when Mrs P is in the passenger seat - She sh*ts herself if I go over 3000 revs... 😄

Come on @Davey P - you chose the wrong roof, so anything you say after that is just noise........ 🤪

As always, I walked straight into that one, ha ha! 😂

I think I will stick with my decision to make it a manual on this occasion. Perhaps there will be a PDK in the future if my knee starts to seize up or something along those lines. but for now, I think a great manual 'box is something I still enjoy and the car is mainly for fun.

There you go, that is the correct answer, excellent decision 👍

Also what I’ve learnt already the roads that we tend to hoon down there is a skill to maximise to get the best out of the PDK it’s not a case of just leaving in auto using the paddle shifts etc it’s a whole new learning curve , down shifting with the paddles it’s still extremely engaging

    Sounds rubbish to me 😂

In a few weeks, I will be in the market for a manual 981.

Good man, you know it makes sense 👍 I've never understood why anyone would opt for the PDK option on a sports car (or any car, for that matter). The 6-speed manual 'box on a 981 is just about perfect as far as I'm concerned, and just adds to the whole driving experience IMHO. When I was looking at buying mine I only looked at manual cars, and if I remember correctly the split was around 50/50, which really surprised me.

Each to his own, obviously, but in this case I am definitely right 😂

  8. Finally got round to cleaning the car inside, which it desperately needed. Hoovered the mats and carpets in the cabin and both boots (I don't like the term "frunk"). Cleaned all the plastics, and topped up the screen wash tank. Only thing I didn't do was clean the leather seats, which I'll save for another day. Work has been a bit slack for the past month, so definitely got too much time on my hands... 😄

  9. Not sure how much my view counts around here, given that mine is a Cayman, but I'd say don't get too bogged down with a massive list of options. Upgrading to a 981 will feel like a massive jump, regardless of the options list. Mine is pretty basic, not even got reversing camera or sensors, and just a bog standard head unit (which never gets switched on, because I'd rather listen to the glorious engine than the radio), so I guess it could be classed as a "base model". However, it's a fantastic car to own and drive, with a beautiful slick manual gearchange, and the 2.7 engine is more than fast enough for normal road use.

Best advice - Go for one with fully documented history from a main dealer or independent Porsche specialist.

Good luck in your search mate 👍

how does the 2.7 981 feel, as I have not tried one? in terms of butt-o-meter - does it feel slow or would it only if you also owned a 3.4....

I can only give an opinion on the Cayman, not a Boxster, but my Butt-o-meter tells me the 2.7 is definitely fast enough, so I wouldn't worry too much about it feeling too slow mate ☺️

    NO it is not !

I've still not got a trip organised for this season..so unlike me.

p.s. avoid the bar Val T  side of the link with Meribel  - its F*ing expensive !

In that case, I guess it wouldn't be a good idea to mention my 2nd ski trip in March then..........? 😁

Finbox, I love skiing but can only really afford to go for one week a year (with the occasional two-week luxury), we must have the same feeling when I read ski-related discussion forums!

Did someone say skiing...? Is this a good time to mention I'm off to Val Thorens in a couple of weeks time.....? 😁

  13. Looked better before if you ask me - But obviously my view doesn't count on here because I drive a Cayman, so a moot point  😂

To be fair, it looks like you have done a great job of the fitting, and spraying the letters black makes them blend in nicely 👍

  14. Yep, I've had the Zunsport grilles fitted as well, including the side intakes. Some people on here have said they don't like them, but I think they look awesome, so that's all that matters I guess 👍
