@Davey P how did your install go ?  Happy with the unit ?

I couldn't get the kit to work, and ended up selling it half price to one of our members on here, and he got it working successfully - See this thread for more details:

Might be worth sending the buyer a PM if you want to know more.  I switched back to the bog standard stereo set up, which never gets switched on (I never listen to music or use the phone while driving anyway), and I just use Waze on my phone for sat nav. Sometimes it's better to keep things simple... ☺️

1st world issues... Life is too short and LOADS of people are in worst situations than 'ohh my Porsche just blew up'.

Excellent attitude, I love that, and it's exactly how I feel after my recent injury "Oh no, I've hurt my knee while skiing for the 2nd time this winter..."  And of course the classic "Oh no, I can't get into my Porsche for the next few months, this is a nightmare..." 😂  Meanwhile, every time I've been to hospital I am literally surrounded by people who are a LOT worse off than me. As you say, a first world problem.

On the plus side, it looks like the GoPro I sold you was performing brilliantly, and the footage looks awesome mate 👍

I thought that, until i got a quote from Chips Away to do a small paint repair on the SLK i head - a deep scratch no more than 2inches long and he quoted £580 - and wondered why i said no

Hmmm, I might need to rethink my previous statement.... 😮

I found using this type of thing gave a really good result, otherwise the paint can be a bit blobby when applied with a Touchup. You need to thin the paint a bit and then it’s like drawing rather than painting. Vertical surfaces can be challenging, but just don’t put too much in the reservoir and surface tension is your friend.

Some jobs are best left to the professionals IMHO.... I've got one stone chip at the top of the A-pillar on the driver's side, probably only 2mm long, and I think there's another one on the bonnet, but I wouldn't dream of attempting to retouch them myself. I'll probably get one of those mobile Chips Away type guys to sort them out later this year.

    Hi All

I'm picking up my Boxster on Friday - nothing out of the ordinary when compared to a lot of the cars on here (standard 2015 2.7 with PDK, wimpy exhaust, nav and bluetooth), but I can't wait. I've regressed to the state of a 5 year old.

You are in for a treat mate, the 981 is a fantastic car, both in looks and performance/handling. As others on here have mentioned, it would be a good idea to take it easy for your first few drives to get used to the characteristics. I've never had any dramas with mine (981 Cayman) but I've got quite a relaxed driving style anyway, so that's not surprising. I predict your feeling of being a 5 year old will last a lot longer than you think. I speak from personal experience there 😂

The maintenance intervals are recommended every 2 years, so running costs are not as expensive as you might think. I have mine serviced every year at an indy, just because I want to, and even then I don't think the cost is too bad. In fact, I doubt it's much more expensive than most other cars I owned.

With regards to extras and spec, if it makes you feel any better mine has got even less than yours, with no nav or bluetooth... I think mine can probably be classed as "poverty spec", but does that matter? Of course not, they are all brilliant, regardless of the toys. I think I've switched the radio on once, just to make sure it works, and it's never been used since. The only sound you need to hear is under your right foot...

Enjoy the car when you get it, and as others have said, post some pics when you get time 👍

  7. The 718 is a truly outstanding car, and usually looks awesome, but I'm afraid that colour combination is bloody horrible - Sorry! ☹️ Almost any other combination would look great, but those two just don't go together IMHO.  However, I'm sure someone out there will love it 👍

1 year ago I bought this blind at auction without even seeing it.

I have only covered 3,950 miles in the last 12 months.. it has so far cost me 1 cam position sensor, 1 service, 4 new tyres and 1 window regulator. I also paid for the front end to be resprayed and the wheels refurbished, and of course crested centre caps.

Today is the first day the weather has been suitable to change the window regulator but it will have to wait a few days as I had surgery yesterday.

It is a great example that decent cars are out there, at auction and it is not just cars with lots of issues that go through.

    Happy gotcha day car!

Fantastic looking car mate, you've gotta be pleased with that 👍

In all I reckon changing the entire interior to black will cost about £600 give or take. A lot of money, yes but I think it makes the interior so much nicer it's worth it.

    Photos required mate... ☺️

I'm not interested in duelling. If kids are hanging too close behind me, I just slow down & force them to pass.

I do the same mate. To be fair, I rarely get tailgated - Obviously in the Cayman I'd almost certainly be going far too slow for anyone to stay behind me....... ☺️
