Not really car washing weather today, but I just had to clean the wheels and tyres after having the new Goodyears fitted a couple of days ago. It always annoys me when they leave the tyre soap goo stuff on them, but I guess they haven't got time to clean 'em up, they're obviously too busy making a profit (how dare they! 😂).
I just sprayed some diluted washing up liquid on them and left it for a few mins, then scrubbed them with a spikey alloy wheel brush and rinsed with a hose, which seems to have worked OK. I will need to have another go at them to get rid of some residue from the old balancing weights on the inside surfaces, but they look much better now anyway. I noticed the wheel centre badges hadn't been put back in the correct position, so I need to get the logos pointing towards the valves, but I'll save that for another day ☺️

I'm a boring auld git with a clean license.
Same here mate, but insurance on the Cayman is only 23 squid per month, so getting older has got some advantages... ☺️
I've been using Confused.com for years, and they seem to come up with competitive prices every time (I swapped from Saga to RAC this year, and that kept the price about the same as last year)

Brilliant - thank you so much iborguk
Yes, he's a helpful fella - The last time I took his advice it cost me £28,000 though, so be careful 😂

Yes they are available, I replaced mine.
I got mine from an OPC a couple of years ago and they were about £30 a side at that time.
Blimey, the "Porsche Tax" is strong with those bad boys... 😂

This is shaping up to be an excellent thread, and I will be watching it with interest
For what it's worth, if you have any doubts about those rear tyres I'd be inclined to ditch them in favour of a new pair to match the fronts. That's just me though, I'm quick picky when it comes to tyres, and always like to have a matching set all round. Your car definitely deserves the best, after such a great start to your ownership.

And an ejector button.
Didn't someone on here have some decals on their blank switches, like "smoke", "machine guns" and "rocket launcher"...? Can't find the thread, but I'm sure I've seen them somewhere.

That sounds brilliant mate, and a great story, well played that man!
I hope you end up keeping it instead of flipping for a quick profit - You can't put a price on the pleasure you will get from such a great car. Looking forward to seeing a few pics when you've cleaned it up.

Also looks fantastic (apologies about the tin top)
No apology needed, it looks much better than a Boxster in my expert opinion...

Hi, after years of procrastinating, I've suddenly found myself in a position to follow my heart (instead of my mind?) and purchase a 981 Cayman.
I can confidently predict you will love it mate. I bought mine a couple of years ago (I didn't even test drive it, due to the Buttercup restrictions in force at the time), and it has been a joy to own and drive since then. Mine isn't a particularly high spec, it's just a standard 2.7 with 6 speed manual 'box, and isn't loaded up with extras. If I were you I wouldn't get too bogged down with all the factory fitted options available, they are great cars regardless of the toys. My best advice would be to drive one though, it's a stunning piece of kit, and I can't imagine owning anything better.
Oh, and if you do get one you might need to brace yourself for a barrage of abuse from the regular members on here, but you soon get used to that

It’s funny how things turn out. I had not considered a cayman until the test drive and liked it. That day I saw a new unregistered one in a dealer online in the identical spec except for Bixenon vs LED. Called up straight away - just in time as signed contracts this morning and will pick up this weekend. http://www.porsche-code.com/PPR348C9
so the big question is will I get kicked out of BoXa.net now?
You will be fine mate. Since I got my Cayman I've had nothing but positive comments and support from everyone on here.......

I think we are missing the point here... the main thing to take away from all this is that the Cayman is 10 bhp better than the Boxster

Test drove a red cayman GTS today - made me start thinking of going to the dark side and getting a fixed roof…
I can vouch for the fact that the Cayman is a much better car than the Boxster.........

Ironic that @Davey P has toffee wheel experience given the OP’s username 🤭
Yeah, every time I see a post from @DaveyP I wonder if it's one from me that I've forgotten...
From my recollection, the toffee wheel did work when I needed to remove residue from a removed boot badge, but it's quite nerve wracking when you first apply it to the paintwork!

indeed spotted a couple myself as I really would like a 4.0 , to the point I'm starting to allow a Cayman as a possibility.
Makes perfect sense to me....

Well, it's that time of year when thoughts turn to renewing my car insurance, and after receiving a renewal from Saga which increased the policy from £258 to £365 (cheeky gits! ) I spent half an hour shopping around on confused.com for a cheaper option. I decided to go with RAC this time, and after tweaking a few options such as reducing the excess to a compulsory £275 with zero voluntary contribution, and a protected NCB, the total cost for the year was £268 (so only a tenner more than last year - Result!). I'm paying monthly, and after an initial one-off £19.94 deposit it's £22.58 per month, which I think is a decent price. I could have saved just under 30 quid by paying in one installment, but I prefer to spread the cost over the year.
I think I will get a £20 Halfords voucher from confused.com as well, so overall I reckon I've done OK
