  1. Really sorry to hear this news mate, I'm gutted for you - but as others have said, at least you walked away from it.

My only advice would be do not accept the first offer from your insurance company, regardless of what figure they come back with. Obviously they will try to get you to accept the lowest possible figure, and they will rely on you wanting a settlement in the fastest possible time, that more or less goes without saying. Stand firm, and list everything you've done to enhance your car.

Good luck getting it sorted anyway.

So mine have just arrived and look like decent quality for the price.. I can see from your close up pic that its like mine and looks to have a plastic film over the crest and im really wanting to peel it off but not sure if its meant to stay there! 😛

Is it supposed to be just for postage protection or is it meant to be there long term as ive got the urge to attack it with a blade to take it off. 😐

I took the clear plastic film off mine, but that's not necessarily the correct thing to do. I think some people take the plastic off, then use a clear lacquer spray on them for extra protection, but I haven't bothered with that. If they start to look a bit rough after a while I'll just buy some more.  I'm pretty happy with them so far anyway.

I feel robbed I paid £7.50 off Onbuy a few weeks ago 🤭

£7.50?  They saw you coming mate, mine have just arrived and they were only £7.09 😂

Pretty good quality I reckon, and they fit nice and tight 👍

Mine had the black and white design, and they still look OK so I'll probably put them back on in winter.

Here's a gratuitous pic after a quick wash this morning, with the new wheel caps fitted:

I shall also be fitting some Zunsport grills in the interest of keeping my newish condensers nice and functional.

Admit it mate, you're doing exactly the same as me, and fitting them purely because they look awesome and not for any "practical" reasons... ☺️😂

yep, oil and filter changed annually, regardless of mileage.

just get it serviced when its in for its MOT - works my daily diesel, which does 14000 miles a year, and my boxster, which only does 3000 miles a year.

it might be overkill, but oil changes are a lot cheaper than engine changes!

I agree with everything said here ^

Two years between oil changes is too long IMHO, regardless of the mileage, so mine gets done every year (and my mileage is only around 3000 - 4000 a year). Each to his own though, obviously, and I guess lots of people stick religiously to the 2 yearly servicing without any problems.

Definitely worth knowing and something I had to get out of the habit of as on most cars a "double click" on the lock button arms the alarm and deadlocks the doors. On a 981 it'll leave your car exposed somewhat.

Yeah, I only use that function when the car is on the ferry. It's pretty unlikely to get nicked on there 😂

  7. Also, probably common knowledge around here, but if you press the key locking button twice in quick succession it will lock the car without arming the alarm. Handy for the many occasions we travel to the Isle of Wight and don't want the alarm to sound every two minutes on the ferry ☺️

  8. I haven't noticed any issues on mine, but then again I didn't really take note of the temps before the grilles were fitted.

The car does seem to take quite a while to warm up to operating temperature (i.e. The water and oil temps are slow to rise) but of course that might have been the same previously. Sorry that's not really much help, but others on here will no doubt come back with a definitive answer.

Car got side swiped by a lorry on the way home from the garage. Dash cam caught the event.

I’m ok but car needs some work. I won’t go into further detail here until it’s played out.

Absolutely gutted to hear this mate ☹️

As long as you're OK that's the main thing. However, I doubt that makes you feel any better. I hope you get the car sorted soon anyway.

Been pondering about my base Cayman purchase vs the 2.7 Boxster 987 I had 2 years ago.

Pros: I prefer the look of the Cayman over a Boxster (ducks).

Blimey, you need to be careful talking like that around here....... 😂

Mine came with 17" wheels with Goodyear tyres.

I bought a set of 18" wheels with Michelin Alpin5 winter tyres last year and the car drives quite a bit differently on the 18" wheels with considerably more grip, harder ride and it seems to highlight a bit of wheel bearing noise. It could just be the softer compound of the Michelins providing the extra grip but will be interesting to compare when the 17" wheels go back on. I'd say the car feels nicer to drive on 17".

The original wheels have been stripped, powder coated, look like new and just waiting a coat of C5 before they are re-fitted.

Always great to hear you are looking after my old car mate, nice one! 👍
