    Yes, this is correct.

I don’t want to jeopardise my membership of BCA by giving away too much info but the Cayman sold to a Billinghurst dealer who those who frequent this site regularly will know.

    It is a stunning example.

Do spill so we can all gag when it appears on Mortimers website as a one-off opportunity to acquire such a car at £23,990.

Tomorrow I am watching a Cayman, it is entered from the Listers motor group.

Assume that's a trade-in that is too old for Listers to retail.

Weren't independent dealers moaning last year that WBAC / BCA / Cinch were scewing the market by cutting dealers out?  They accused WBAC of paying more than trade price, Cinch charging less than retail and the independents not getting a sniff of the better cars that traders would otherwise have put through BCA?

Predictions of where prices are going,(or whatever WBAC pricing model takes into account of) could have changed if they are now only offering £9150 for an "easy deal" on a Gen2 BoxsterS.

It is not just Porsches, BCA sell thousands and thousands of cars from all different sources.

BCA own WBAC and Cinch and a lot of stock comes from WBAC.

People think that this means the cars are rubbish but this is not the case. Humans like easy, hassle free transactions and as such business is booming for WBAC and as a result BCA.

WBAC price for a 2009 Boxster 987.2 3.4s PDK with 87k miles is £9150. Probably 10% less if you present it with any of the tyre valve caps is missing.

I suspect BCA wouldn't be getting many decent 987.2 cars in via the WBAC route at the moment if they make perhaps £12k at auction. Especially if people think they are a bargain if advertised for sale below £16k.

Quite a few Boxster's were auctioned today. Sometimes when a car does not meet it's reserve, BCA offer them at a buy it now price. If no one buys, then they are auctioned again.

2 987's have been placed on with a buy it now option:

    2011 987 3.4s, 97k, Black, auto, 5 owners, history - 7 service print outs, V5 present: £13,000

    2012 987 2.9, 79k. Black, manual, 6 owners, history - 6 service print outs, V5 present: £13,000

I wonder why so many Boxsters are for sale at auction? Are they on the dealer merry-go-round?

After the last three years of spiralling car price madness, we are entering a period that sellers will find hard to accept. Cars are ultimately only worth the money you can sell them for. At £13k these 987.2 cars look a bargain, but they really are not, more sellers than buyers and the reserve prices were too high.

With people having to pay more for food, fuel, mortgages/rent, many won't feel flush and steer clear of buying Porsches. Still not the time to grab a bargain.

    Haha, I see.

My guess is that Mr Cod works or has worked in the motor industry :)

No, Manager in heavy industry. I've never worked in the motor trade.

Being Lincolnshire born and bred though I have even deeper pockets and shorter arms compared to those spendthrifts over in Yorkshire and I've bought newish cars from auction in the past to avoid lining car dealer's pockets.

He is also a man of impeccable taste and good judgement, as the buyer (and as far as I can tell, still the proud owner....) of my old Boxster :thumbsup_still:

Hi Davey, Your car is still going strong. All the jobs it needed apart from the corroded exhaust flange bolts now done. It lives out on the drive in all weathers getting used and abused as a daily driver. The new HID bulbs in the headlights even put out enough light now to see the road when driving at night, and they slipped past the MOT tester, with the car passing two MOTs without advisories! It's currently wearing a set of immaculate 18" Cayman wheels with a set of nearly new Michelin Alpin 5 winter M+S tyres that I picked up for a song in the summer. Those tyres really stick like .... to a blanket. The original wheels will go for a powder coating refurb in January.

It's a great car and no plans to sell yet.

Not for me, just want to record the service rather than mislead, agree on them getting more attention though.

I put some pics of the work I did here which included cleaning behind the arch liners.

It's not just me that photographs a cut open oil filter then!

I couldn't resist a good clean-up under the front end when I replaced the air-con condensers. Dinitrol wax where needed to stop further corrosion, Polytrol refurb on all the arch liners/undertrays whilst they were off and photographs of the job for the file.

Prices have been coming down quickly over the past 12 months

eBay is a good barometer of where prices are going. There's been a Gen2 3.4S PDK on eBay for the last six weeks for £13995 - unsold. The type of car dealers were asking north of £25k for a year ago. WBAC valuation of my car is now less than 60% of what it was 16 months ago.

Most sellers are now way too optimistic with their asking price. The used car market went crazy during Buttercup and it was never going to last. There's more correction to come before prices can be considered sensible.

Ok thanks, think I’ll write the mileage in the book and keep the receipts in the folder with all the others.

quote from my local Indy was over a grand btw

I'd rather see receipts for parts and evidence of regular attention that than a car with "full service history" with no more than a few blurry John Bull printing set stamps in the book at 20,000 miles intervals. I'd consider MOT history and the condition a car had been presented in for its annual check far better evidence of care.

Plenty of Porsches out there for top money with what I would class as "suspicious" FSH if you dig into it.

Paying £1k for a service on an £8k car when you can easily do just as good or better job yourself for £200 doesn't make sense to me.

Definitely firms up the pedal and no disrespect to a further comment, basic hydraulics  pie d2 over 4 multiple by pressures gives you more area over the annular area of the cylinder hence more force with less pressure. Nuff said!!

50% more cross sectional area of the master cylinder = 50% more (pedal) force required to create the same (hydraulic) pressure in the brake system.

    Basic physics.

Is it normal that in say 2nd gear, when you put your foot down, it’s not super quick accelerating until around

4-5000rpm, then it really starts pulling…. I’ve never driven one, so nothing to compare it too🤔

    TIA 👍🏻

It depends on what you are used to driving. Compared to a modern turbocharged performance car a 987 feels slow in everyday driving and needs to be pushed very hard to wring any true performance out of the engine. The characteristics of a normally aspirated multivalve engine.

The longer you drive one though, the more you appreciate the noise, handling and general "feel" of the car.

Out of interest what does the GT3 MC swap out bring to the party ?
Just bled mine and flushed  as couldn’t see it recently in the history .The peddle is firmer , but not as firm as the Macan or a Bentley GT , the latter the best brakes I have had , but they were built by VAG to halt a 2 2/2 ton missile 0-60 in 4.2 secs from 200 mph …..and well up to the job .

The lighter  13-1400 kg boxster brakes are good and progressive not complaining , normal road use but I feel there’s headroom for improvement having driven other VAG products.??

Depends on what you want to feel from your brakes. If the GT3 MC is 27mm bore compared to standard 22mm, the pedal with the larger bore cylinder will need 50% more force applying to it to create the same pressure on the "standard" caliper pistons, but slightly less pedal travel which may make the brakes feel a bit firmer.

The larger bore GT3 MC would have been designed to work with larger caliper piston CSA and to many people, using it with the smaller standard calipers and no extra servo assistance would make the brakes feel "worse".

It gets worse - Check out the wheel centre caps......... Oh dear God, can somebody please BAN HIM!!! (or alternatively, just turn the logos to point towards the tyre valves)

I had the same issue with a couple of my wheel centre caps - and a very unhappy looking passenger side windscreen wiper.

  13. I finally found a reasonably priced used wind deflector kit so fitted that today.

There were holes for the top brackets but I had to drill out for the bottom one. I can't think why the factory would pre-drill two of the holes for the fitting kit but not the others.
