Here's a thought, as you mentioned you were limited by the interior colour. You said early on that you'd saved a few Pinterest pics.  Now you actually know what the exterior looks like, consider changing the centre panels of the seats to something that matches with the green/tobacco mix you have. It will greatly lighten the interior (I did it on my old family car), and you can choose if you want leather, a pale green alcantara (some hate alcantara, I love it), or some sort of Porsche 60s/70s chequered cloth... but I think changing the centre panels will lift your black interior without being as much work as swapping the entire interior for beige etc.

I wondered about changing some of the inserts in the seats to the material I’m covering the tonneau with, but doing it in  another colour or other parts of the interior is a top idea 👍🏼

Looks bloody fantastic, and what a superb job they have done. 😁

    What colour is it?

    Thank you :)

The colour code it's based on is Porsche Crystal Green Metallic (3P/A6W), then got them to add some gold/tobacco to get it a little like the Porsche tobacco (which I really liked) and give it more metallic

  3. Appreciate it might not be everyone's taste, but I think it looks really good and even better in the flesh.  The guys painting it have done a really good job - the finish is like glass!  In the different lights it looks soooo different too. Looking forward to getting the accessories/trim back on 😎

I didn't actually go for exactly any of the colours I posted - I ended up basing it on one of them and adding some more gold to give it a better 'fleck', which should also be complimented by the gold badges.

If I had decided to change the colour of the trim to a lighter colour I probably would have gone for one of the more bold colours (red/blue), however as I was keeping it black it always had to be a consideration.

If you're near Galway just pop over and show me, it can stay secret from those spoilsports then.

Just into Portlaoise for the day via Dublin 👍

  5. Good news/bad news...

Good news - I've been to the painters and seen it after the colour and lacquer (x 3 coats) has been sprayed on, and I'm really happy.  It looks a lot better in the flesh than I had imagined :)   They're now going to 800 grit sand the top lacquer coat off then polish before it comes back which is...

The bad news - it probably won't be by the weekend, which means I have to continue with painting the house 🤦‍♂️

Also the wheels are delayed, which whilst I won't be driving anywhere any time soon, would be nice to get it all together

I do have some photos if folk want to see, or wait until it's back with the lights etc in?

It's all gone a bit quiet. Has he decided he doesn't like the colour he chose now it's done?

Didn't like it so sent it back to go for another colour 🤣

Not really - just nothing to report yet!  Once I get it back home I'll post some photos for judgement day :D

Ideally need it back by next weekend as I've got a free couple of days, so can get concentrate on making it drivable again!

    Monday morning update please ..........!!!!!!

    Nothing too interesting I'm afraid!

Got a few bits delivered - don't know if I'll use the pegasus logo yet, but wanted to have it as an option.  Frustratingly you can only seem to get the Speedster badges in gold as opposed to the silver Porcshe badges I'd already bought, so my OCD made me get them all in gold :D

  8. Colour is picked and they're getting the paint on in the next couple of days  ☺️

🤞 we're still on track for the end of next week, by the time it's lacquered/polished

I wrote a list yesterday of things that need to be completed - there's a lot more to do than I remember 🤣

@timbobalobox - looks good in primer, will look fantastic in your chosen colour.

If they’re planning to put the colour coats on this Friday when will the body be ready for you to take home and complete the build?

Hopefully end of next week 🤞

  10. Bodywork is complete and it's had it's last primer!  They said it could be painted straight over what they'd done already, but they wanted to wanted to ensure it's the best it can be.

Doors done too - there is a cap that goes over the triangle where the wing mirror used to be mounted

Last two spray outs done tomorrow (Monday), then need to make the choice so they can hopefully get it done for this Friday 🤯

How's the paint colour selection coming on ?

    :D

I'm picking up the final sprayouts tomorrow so I can check in the flesh/check in different lights.  Currently the favourite from the 'shopped ones is green...

...or the blue.  Possibly the blue :D

  12. Nipped in last night on the way home - they've primed it once and checked for any imperfections.  Door gaps are bang on and they're just working on the bonnets then it's down to me to confirm the colour! (apparently as long as the prep has been done properly, the painting is the easy bit)

The front valance remains removable so I can get to the rads underneath if needs be.  It's also semi-sacrificial should it ground badly

This just popped up on the ‘Porsche for sale’ FB group @timbobalobox

The silver makes it look a bit slab sided to me, especially on the front end?

I think this is one of their early ones, and I'm not sure the bumpers help the front to be honest.  That's part of the reason I tried to break mine up with the driving lamps and logo - just hope it works :D

Where are you going to put the mobil pegasus stickers? Just to make it a bit more complicated.

    Don't :D :D

I guess just below the side repeater - I've ordered the 'Speedster' badges for the side to go above

Here are apparently some images for tobacco.

    https://www.rennbow.org/porsche-colors/TobaccoMetallic

These make it look a lot more dull brown than moospeed's version above - assuming it's an official Porsche colour, which perhaps it isn't.

There is one tobacco that's the official Porsche one from the late 70s/80s and another from another brand (can't remember who!) that I pulled out for sampling - I should get all of the spray outs back on Friday 👍

The tobacco is very lovely, for sure!

What colour interior would you do with it? dark tan?

I'll be sticking with the black leather - the original plan was to paint the speedster humps the same as the body, but they actually look good in black too...
