  1. That’s interesting I have just recently bought a 981 Boxster and ordered a PSE in November last year from Porsche Glasgow for my car. They gave me a date of the 28th of this month to supply and fit it. I have not heard anything from them so I am hoping it will still happen on the 28th but I also know the PSE’s have been on back order for quite a while just have to wait and see what happens

  2. I was in Glasgow Porsche centre on Friday buying spark plugs for my 981 Boxster as it’s been 4 years since they were last replaced going by its history. While I was there I asked about the outer suspension/ hub mount recall and asked if it applied to my car, I was told it didn’t so I am just wondering is it year specific or how do they decide what 981’s it applies to ?

  3. You’re not crazy you just know how good these cars are. Your car will drive sooo much better after it’s suspension refresh and then you won’t mind handing over the £££

This is the MOT history on the car, I see it opens at 1200 tomorrow. Might pop up myself for 1200 when it opens, I am back to work tomorrow night at 6pm so would have to be there sharp, lol.

Ok good luck hope it is a nice car and what you are looking for

Thank you very much for that, I had planned to go north today, however there were more cars to view over the north east, I spoke to the guy yesterday and he said it just had £1400 spent on it and has full service history, they flew down to London to buy it in. According to him its been sold twice and 2 people have backed out of it already, price was non negotiable even though no trade in and would be paying cash.

I know the garage that is selling this car and they always have nice stock and are a reputable company. They like to sell Porches and always seem to have a few in stock. I will go and have a look at the car tomorrow and will PM you on my thoughts about it. I noticed it comes with a hardtop which is quite rare and if you don’t want the hardtop you could always sell it, I think they sell for £500 - £750.

The second car is in Glasgow and just about 15 minutes drive away from me. I could go and look at the car for you if you like. I am not an expert but I have owned my 986 for 5 years now and have done loads of work on it myself, full suspension refresh, changed all fluids etc. so I do have a bit of knowledge. Just let me know if you want me to go and have a look

  7. I have owned my 986 S for 5 years now and finally did a road trip to the South of France. It was a 3,500 mile round trip and I loved every minute of it. The Boxster never missed a beat and never used a drip of oil or water. I was very impressed with how comfortable a motorway cruiser the car is, I sat at 75 to 80 MPH and although I have the PSE with the valves permanently open there was no drone or irritating loud noise. We stayed at a nice little villa near Antibes and I don’t think I had the roof up on any trips we did, we went to Sanremo in Italy which is a lovely seaside town, we took the coast road most of the way and it was just fabulous the views were amazing and the roads were quite quiet and nice and twisty.

The best trip was definitely the route Napoleon which starts properly from Grasse this road has a bowling green smooth surface, does not have much traffic on it and is full of twists, turns and long straights just perfect for mid engined sports cars. It is fairly wide and twists its way through the Alps and the sound of the exhaust reverberating off the rock faces was awesome and made me giggle like a lunatic. As you drive along you pass through some lovely little villages and towns perfect places to stop for lunch and dinner. The road goes on for something like 150 miles and I can honestly say it’s the best road I have ever driven on and was the highlight of the trip. If anyone ever gets the chance to hustle their Boxster along this road grab it with both hands. There were also quite a few exotic cars on the road like Ferraris, Lamborghinis and of course some nice Porches. I got a few waves from the passing Porsche guys which was nice.

Another great road trip we did was through the gorges of Daluis this is another great twisty road with tunnels bored through the mountains and as we drove through these tunnels I couldn’t help but floor it just for the glorious flat six and sports exhaust sound bouncing off the tunnel walls. This road is actually a 35 kilometre loop so you can’t go wrong and a few sections are one way so you could push on knowing no traffic was coming in the opposite direction. I have to say these roads were a bit narrower with huge drops down the sides of the mountains which made me drive a bit more cautiously than on the route Napoleon.

Our holiday flew in and soon it was time to go home but this trip has just wetted my appetite for more European trips in my Boxster, to say I enjoyed it is an understatement!! If anyone is thinking of a trip like ours definitely go for it and you will have one of the best experiences ever.

One of the black knobs on the dash pod. Turn and hold left for something like 5 seconds.

It’s the black knob that you would use to adjust the time that you use to toggle between MPH and KPH

YHeRUg4.jpgPaddles fitted transforms the car with the AMG paddles followed the rennlist  write up https://rennlist.com/forums/987-forum/898104-diy-tiptronic-paddle-shift-conversion-2.html can’t believe Porsche went with those thumb controls found a cheap beige steering to get the wheel blanks and practice on

I also fitting the amg paddles to my 986 Boxster and as you say totally transforms the car best mod you could do on a tiptronic car IMHO

  10. Yeah I have bought quite a few parts from them and never had any problems but as you say it takes about a week for delivery. When the variable discount hits the 41% mark I don’t think they will be beat on price. So all in all I would highly recommend them

Hi again, another roof question I’m afraid.

I’ve recently cleaned around my windscreen frame there was a remanence of a glue substance ( where the roof touches the windscreen frame) looks like Porsche put some kind of strip there to stop the paint rubbing off. My question is, has anybody ever replaced that strip? If so what with?

My Boxster looks looks exactly like your picture. I never thought there was anything missing so will be interesting to hear any replies
