Asked for a price while getting a tyre for the fiesta... £123 for oil & filter.. 9litres... They were surprised!  of mobil 0-40. Think I will invest in a larger drain pan and stick to diy. I thought the mobil 1 was 5-40?

Yeah and look what happened to your car.. Must have been kwik fit ;)

My thoughts too, just don’t know what cr*p oil they use, my experience its bulk shyate, unless you supply your own and then stand over them while they do it, I wouldn’t trust them

When they changed the oil on mine they used crappy Mobil one in litre bottles and a  Mann filter..charged me £45 for the privilege,  feckers I couldn't even buy the oil alone for that.  What a rip off.

I think you were lucky, when i ventured into KF with another car they used oil out of a huge barrel and just pumped it in via a tube type set up, god knows what oil was in there.

If my local KF did what yours did I would have no hesitation, as you say you cant by the oil and filter for anywhere close to what they charge you.

How long ago was that though ?

It was a while ago now admittedly back when it was costed at a price you simply couldn't even buy the oil for, the 9 litres required wasn't then factored in by them so I'd imagine they were making a loss on it and not even able to up sell other services at the time.

We've had a few lively debates about this in the past and I think it's fair to say some people's experiences have been dreadful and others quite agreeable.

If you have a normal car that uses a common oil then it tends to come from their bulk barrel. If you need what they call 'specialist oil' then they order it in the plastic cans. Had his for both my AMG and Boxster when doing interim oil changes.

I bought mine from Euro Car Parts
Lots of special Offers with 35% offered at present and 50 % sometimes
I use Shell Helix Special 25.00 from Euro for 5 lires
Go and chat the guy up at the counter he can often give you better prices

REally depends on how long you are going to keep it

Ive had no problems

I can totally recommend this style of drain pan

https://www.screwfix.com/p/laser-oil-drain-pan-16ltr/23458

Big capacity, large opening to catch all the drips, so damned easy to pour old oil into canisters for taking to the tip.

There are some cheaper versions on Amazon, which I also bought for coolant capture, but it didn't feel quite as good quality as the Screwfix one, although it's good enough.
