Roof

I can only open the roof when the car is going slower than 5mph, it will close from 30mph as it should do. I only bought this Box a couple of weeks back and would describe it as being unloved😞Have been busy tidying it up and noticed that one of the rubbers on the tonneau cover is missing and the other is a bit dog eared and needs replacing. Could this be the reason for this happening? I’m doubtful! Any other ideas to why this is happening would be very grateful.

thanks

What’s the sequence / error if any.

At more than 5 it should be a single touch on the open  button. Do you get any messages on the dash ?

I am not sure but I think there are some codings in the computer for these settings.

Since it’s new to you one of the 1st things to check the roof drains (search on here for where/how ) common issue that results in some expensive electrical damage.

The roof operates perfectly when opening / closing, it should open up to 31mph and close from 31mph to stationary. It does the closing from 31 but will not open above 5 mph on acceleration. This is a bit of a weird one! It’s in the specialist at the moment having the dreaded leaky headlamp washers sorted out. I was just trying to gather some info I could pass on to them as they haven’t heard of this issue before.

That’s a weird one for sure.  Suggestion would be a sensor somewhere since all the things work switch’s/motors etc. As you say above 5 and below 30 it’s a one touch operation. But speed I assume comes from the ecu

Perhaps the specialist will find something on the diags that gives a clue.

Interested to hear the outcome.

Ok, little lost her end need guidance.... Paul p, you say single touch for roof opening....only had my car a month, after garage works....I have to hold switch for opening and closing (no one touch), my cars an 09 gen2 I believe, is this something that needs further programming, or is it aftermarket? Thanks, mark.

Mine is 2011 gen 2, so same model as yours and mine one touch opens and closes. It is a long one touch though, try pressing it for a few secs and let go and see if that works 👍

Getting the 'touch' at just the right time length is an art.  The car has to be moving too.  As soon as you come to a halt, the roof stops.

above 5 mph below about 35mph you can open or close the roof with "one touch" - when opening, open the latch fully as usual then (above 5mph) hit the open switch - as the others say it's a "decent" one touch - I *think* I wait until it starts to move then I let go. If you slow below 5 mph it stops moving - bleats at you and you have to hold the switch to complete the operation (like you would if stationary) - closing - you have to latch at the end -

think thats like that to stop you closing the roof on someones head - I assume they figure above 5 mph the person would have fallen off the car anyway :)

Unlatch the roof fully, get the car moving above 5mph and do a long press on the open roof switch, then let go. Roof will fully retract. It's a default operation on 987.2

thanks all, to be honest i've opened roof before i set off, not tried in motion, so thanks for the comments, I'll try when i'm next out in it. I take it it's motion only, not stationery?
