i just bought one at 60k , a lot of people are millage sensitive with these cars, personally i go on condition and service history.Ive spoken to specialists and they recon 200k plus is do-able on these engines.I plan on keeping the car so resale price isnt a top priority atm.Got a huge spec car for very very good money and will prob take out Porsche warrenty after three months of ownership, thought it was the car i recommended the other day until i saw red hoops lol.The Pse can be retrofitted by OPC starting from @ 1800 quid depending on dealer, switchable is the way to go btw ...

My 2012 981s is just approaching 45k miles, I've had it from 1 year old and is my daily. It gets the normal services +oil/ filter and air filters every year without fail at Revolution it's looked after but used. The engine gets better and better the greater the milage especially since passing the 30+k. So to answer your question; if it's got a good service history and obvious evidence that it's been cared for it wouldn't worry me.

981 services are as per 987.2 ie every

- 2 years or 20k miles interim

- 4 years or 40k miles full

etc....

So a 2012 car with 50k miles should have had - interim/full/interim and be due a full next year (ie 8 years old). Services out of sink (due to passing through dealers could affect that but that should be the minimum in the book to have a full history). Also I would expect the first interim / full service to be OPC.

There are some inspection items due ie between second interim and second full eg belts inspections but nothing excessive.

The other thing I wuold check is age of the tyres, on that mileage / age it should not be on original rubber and ideally should have N rated matching tyres on all 4 corners. Those are the basics I look at first with condition of the car / options fitted when assessing 😉

thankyou all for the replies,  for me its something i will be keeping for over 5 years so  its not that i want it for a year and then try to sell it on.  thanks for the details about the services i'll ask a few questions now that you have raised and judge the response, perhaps even a video presenation

If it puts you off for wear and tear reasons, just look at the car and the service history (and any cost of replacing stuff) and do the maths.

If it puts you off for resale reasons, consider how long you'll have the car and what mileage you'll do (some of us sad feckers don't do many miles per year) and see if you'll bring the average down.

I don't see it's more complicated than that.

My new 981 is on 40k, didn’t put me off one bit. It’s going to be my daily and I’m going to enjoy it. It’s going to be a keeper so I’d rather buy on condition than mileage . You can still have low mileage cars that have not been looked after.

I bought mine on 60k last November; just about to turn 66k now.  Was all fully up to date OPC history and have had no problems with it :)

Expect some stone chips at 50k unless had paint.  Mine is still on its original paint, so a little bit “stone-chippy”  but doesn’t bother me (yet ;)).
