porsche 111 pre inspection check with some advisories

Afternoon all,  the 981 S i put a deposit down has had its 111 pre inspection check done at Porsche Sussex,  pretty good tbh but Porchse should have sent the report to me(im paying for it)  and eneded up sending it to the dealer.  Dealer called me and said oh thats strange i would have thought you would have had a copy bearing in mind you have paid for it!

Ive just gone through with the dealer whos selling the car (not porsche as i'm waiting for them to call me back and send me a copy of the report)

the only advisories are as follows;

No Book pack (he said he has that with the him at his dealership)

Battery in key fob needs replacing

Underside front bumper scuffed

Exhaust Bolts/bracket rusting

Trickle charger not connected properly (mentioned something about being connected incorrectly, hence why i need to speak to Porsche to see what this could be and why that would as it is.

Small chip on one alloy.

I'm a bit OCD and the chip on the alloy bothers me the most,   sure i can get it sorted but like everything perfect, especially wheels.

So overall not too bad, been waiting over hour for porsche to call me back, got to say not overly impressed as i've already discussed getting the extended warranty and thought they might have been a little more attentive.

update

OK porsche have called and he ive got a bit more information from him on that. The exaust is the bolts from the exhaust to the cat which have corroded and is common but would probably need replacing before they issued OPC warranty.  £510.00

Passenger side mirror judders in reverse (could be motor or WD40)

Locking wheel nut needs replacing £59.00

Also it has fitted an aftermarket trickle charger which is connected to the battery terminals which is not permitted by porsche warranty so needs fitting correctly.

Going to speak to the dealer in a bit about those costs and what he wants to do with regards to getting them fixed.

Report arrived.

No VTS cards in the car

The exaust is the bolts from the exhaust to the cat which have corroded and is common but would probably need replacing before they issued OPC warranty.  £510.00

passenger side mirror judders when adjusted (could be motor or WD40 needs further investigation)

Locking wheel nut needs replacing £59.00

Also it has fitted an aftermarket trickle charger which is connected to the battery terminals which is not permitted by porsche warranty so needs fitting correctly Chassis ground is required instead of battery ground, positive temrinal also lose and requires tightening,

Going to speak to the dealer in a bit about those costs and what he wants to do with regards to getting them fixed.

Do you already own a 981 S as per your profile on left?

Reason I ask is that a stone chip on the alloy isnt a big deal IMHO as the front of my previous car 981 S was prone to stone chips all over the front bumper and bonnet.

Also the prices quoted are OPC prices and if you are buying from an Indy they should be able to put the above right quite easily for you at a minimal cost to them if they are keen to sell the car.

Hi no its the one im about to buy (wishful thinking)   just psoken back and forth with the dealer whos selling the car and porsche.  Dealer is saying it doesnt need to be done and its an advisory and porschse advises it needs replacement,  the guy has gone away to speak to the technician that checked the car to find out and also to ask about the wheel nut.

VTS cards the dealer has them,  service book the dealer has so they are fine.

Stone chip i can live with for now.

Just the exhaust then as its £510.00 to replace and i want to make sure if it goes to porsche in 90 days they dont want £510 straight away

Fecking Porsche - they make their exhaust system fasteners out of cheese and then charge an arm and a leg to replace them.

Can you clarify what the issue is with the locking wheel *bolts*? Is one or more of the locking bolts damaged or is the "key" damaged or missing?

Porsche have said its worn (probably them putting it on with a airgun on a previous service)  its onyl been seen by them.  I had something similar with Audi last year and ended up replacing the locking nuts for standard bolts.

The locking wheel bolt key supplied with the 981 is absolutely terrible quality - I've honestly never seen such a substandard part from a main manufacturer. They are really soft alloy and designed in such a way that the outer ring is really thin, so unless they are seated fully onto the bolts, they distort straightaway.

I would suspect that it's the key that is damaged, rather than a bolt - I would be amazed if anyone had managed to do any actual damage to a locking wheel bolt with the crappy key. Lots of people on here have replaced the locking bolts with non-locking ones.

At 33K the car's had at least some new tyres - any chance they were done by a cack-handed tyre fitter? Porsche is actually quite careful.

If the dealer will pick up the exhaust, then given the locking nut issue is to personal taste (discussed above) I'd say you're on to a winner.

Do you need a locker on each wheel to be warrantied?

Yeah I'm thinking of the same there are wheel bolts on ebay for £8.50 each and I did the same on my s3 after Audi messed it up. I hope it's not the case that it's so badly damaged I cant get the bolt off when I finally get my hands on the car.

Hes going to pay half the price and I'll sort the other half out Porsche say it doenst need to be done and it would o ly fail the 111 check if it was blowing.

I think factory bolts from Porsche are less than £8.50 each. IMHO stop faffing about - either get the selling dealer to replace the locking bolt key or buy 4 factory bolts. But don't waste your time scouring ebay for something that might fit. Or maybe it won't.

That £510 cost for the exhaust studs is comical. I had mine done at al local garage (all needed cutting off) for £80.

Are these studs similar to the 987? i.e. studs welded onto the flange? So as well as cutting off they also need drilling out (which is not so easy as access is difficult and the studs are hardened due to the welding).

I think they are Porsche did say they need cutting off and possibly drilling.

All sounds a bit petty and have just highlighted what they don't like the look of.  Doesn’t sound like any of it is actually causing any issues with the performance or safety of the car at all.

I agree and if honest I may go the indy servicing now anyway,  all through the process i havent been very impressed with Porsche sussex to be honest,  i appreciate all dealerships are different but just the communication levels i expected alot more of porsche.   On the other hand i spoke to porsche specialist in chelmsford and he was really good to talk to and helpful and ive had audis and Golf R32s which have been independantly serviced without any issues when it comes to be sold.

The owner of Autostrasse is a very honest and knowledgable fella, has given me some great advice over the years if thats the guys you're referring to near Chelmsford.

I live in Chelmsford and cant think of another Porsche specialist nearer, so thought I would put your mind a rest as hes been nothing but brilliant with me.
