paid £20 from ECP as I needed it immediately, but there are much cheaper ones on eBay that may work just as well. I used it with my IPad, but an IPhone should work as well. Suprised how easy it was to use, just plugged in and it worked. Must try it on my 99 2.5 and see if I get anything.

So youve not used it on the Porsche!

I will wait with baited breath to see if it does, if it works result.

As I mentioned earlier on the thread, I used it on a 2003 car I was thinking of buying, just haven't tried on mine yet as was uncertain whether it would work on a non OBD2 compliant car. I'm intrigued now, so will probably have a play if it ever stops raining.

Will be good to know if it does work, ill keep my fingers crossed as this could be an excellent solution

Just tried it and it seems to work

Not sure if it reads codes as when I tried, none came back. This could mean my car has no codes stored, or I wiped them while faffing around, or it doesn't read codes because it's not OBD2 compliant. Though I had a problem at first when Oxygen sensor 2 was flatlining, then realised I was looking at Bank 1, sensor 2 which is not fitted😀

Looks like a good option, keep me informed. Thanks

So I took a punt on a cheapo OBD2 reader at £8.79  - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01N30RQNH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It works perfectly with a smartphone via bluetooth, get live readings and can reset engine fault codes. My friend has a wifi OBD2 reader, which is a bit rubbish when paired with a phone as it stops your phone connecting to the internet when reading fault codes. Interestingly enough, my car still does out of factory 0-60 time, which is pretty impressive for 16 year old car.

Forgot to add, I downloaded Car scanner (free app) and it works well. I expect there are many other free apps you could use.
