Robster66
Hi everyone Hope you can help / advise me. So my PCM was erroring and shutting down, visited my local specialist and they’ve diagnosed that the Nav unit in the front is at fault. Other than getting a used replacement, any recommendations for repairers? They have isolated the unit and I now have radio and cd again Thanks
Richard Hamilton
What was the error message? Did it you get the error without the map disk loaded?
Robster66
Hi Richard The message was Cutoff protection Temperature PCM Tried lots and I believe the message was still present without the disc Thanks for your help to date
Menoporsche
Which PCM, 2.1 or 3.0? I don’t see if you have a 987.1 or .2. If the older one, consider dumping it for a modern unit with Bluetooth etc.
Robster66
It’s a 987.1 with PCM 2.1 with Bose Guess dumping is an option, just haven’t started to research the alternatives- yet
Richard Hamilton
Using an incorrect version of the navigation DVD will cause that message and symptoms. It happens if you use a later disk than the firmware of the DVD drive can handle. However, if you got that message without a disk in the drive then it must be some other cause. Mattman42
@Robster66 - I used Cartronics in Surrey to fix the power supplies on my PCM3.0 - really good, efficient and has remain fixed! https://www.cartronics.co.uk/

The PCM 3 is tucked away for reinstalling at sale time should the next owner wish original equipment

Bookmarked.
