Midlands Porsche Expert?

How do all,

I’ve had my 2004 Boxster S for a couple of months now and am loving every minute of it. After some initial teaching problems such as replacing ALL the coils and my local garage fixing a coolant leak which was basically a pipe replacement, she’s running like a dream. I was talking to a local Indi dealer when they did the coils and asked about enabling the OBC. He said that it wasn’t guaranteed that it’d work as it depends on where the car was manufactured. He also said it was a waste of time as the MPG and Miles until Empty we’re useless as they were always way off! I got the impression that he just didn’t want to do it. So, is there anybody local to Wolverhampton that would be willing to do the mod for me and fit a new rocker switch rather then a new stalk? You’d be paid handsomely in plenty of beer tokens for your time 🙂

Local indi in Wolverhampton? Who would that be then?

Were they a Porsche specialist or a garage that just happen to work on anything including Boxster?

I found my 03 model OBC to be pretty good.

Lots on here rave about Cotswold (forum sponsor) there’s also a place in Solihull a few members use.

Dont touch a PorscheShop!

Theres also Revolution ‘oop North

The Indi I used was actually in Telford but I was slightly put off when he said it was a waste of time.

Sounds like you went to see Steve at CMS Porsche? Good mechanic but not great people skills 😂

Not a good start to a customer relationship. If you don't have confidence, walk away, or at least ask if they want a long tern relationship with you. Some above indicate they are good but I'd be very unimpressed with the reaction you reported.

OBC is only ever a guide but I find it useful as an indication of range and temperature, not a statement of fact. Mine was factory enabled buy many on here have retro fitted successfully. It is not an essential, that said I use the speed warning function just to chime when I'm going quite fast as a note to self.... rather than because I use speed restricted tyres.😉😀

Ramus Porsche at Walsall are very good.

Or even West Bromwich Lonewolf 🤣

Agreed , I had a major service and other work done with them and have been happy. I am in there Wednesday funnily enough to have my brake fluid changed and to get a new key fob.

In fairness they are similar in that they are both small suburbs of the mighty City of Wolverhampton !  :thumbsup_anim:

How much is the new key fob? I got a replacement one from eBay that works ok but I really have to press the buttons really hard.

Hello mate.

£185 for the fob. Had my brake fluid done while I was there. Have a slight issue so I will be going back in to see them but I am sure it will be sorted.

Cheers
