Stuck Horn

Withy

Recommended Posts

I was driving back from the shops this morning and saw a mate parked up so beeped the horn and waved.  To my horror, the horn stuck in and continued to blare for the next 1/2 mile or so along a fairly busy street.  As if people driving convertible Porsche's in winter need any help in looking like a tw*t!

Embarrassment aside, anyone heard of this before?.. I got home and had a quick look and it does seem to just be the steering wheel centre switch sticking in, so have applied some silicon lubricant (the automotive kind, before you ask!) and tested again but it is still sticky and needs persuaded to the off position.    It's a Sport Design steering wheel on a late 2012 car.

Obviously make sure the car battery is disconnected and once that's done leave the car a while (15 mins) before going near the airbag 👍

Other google hits also suggest removing the label on the back of the horn switch as that can cause it to stick.
