McDonald
I've just received my 2nd key, which has been refurbished. Keyrepair.co.uk have done a first class job on each of my keys. (£35.00 each) They have enclosed a postcard advertising their other service, referring the Climate Control Unit (£86.00). I'm tempted. I've watched a YouTube video which shows how to remove the unit & it looks very straightforward. My Question. Can I assume that the car will work perfectly without that unit in place, while it's away being beautified?
red rocket
What do they do, just refurb the buttons? If so you can do it yourself for a fraction of the cost. First job I did on my car.
McDonald
They strip the rubberised coating, then respray them "leaving them as good as new." Will the car work perfectly without that panel in place?

That's the job i (and many others) have done with help from @jnwright71 who supplies the necessary 'masks' and instructions on how to remove buttons and paint. Here's his ebay listing https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154042536090. Just need plastic primer and Matt Black paint. Very satisfying bit of DIY. My buttons are not too bad but I'm happy to be sprucing thing up.

Does the decal approach still allow the buttons to be “lit” ? Idle curiosity on my part. Thanks

Thanks Yes, because they are 'masks' which you remove after painting as opposed to decals. You remove the Black coating leaving a White switch, apply mask, paint, remove mask and hey presto.
