Insurance renewal time

It's insurance renewal time and no surprise it's gone up around 6%. I use my boxster as a 2nd car on a classic limited mileage policy of 3k miles. This is my 3rd boxster and have used either Adrian Flux or Footman James for all of them (normally bounce between them to keep the price competitive). This time Footman seems best value but I'm in no doubt that classic car policy costs seem to be increasing faster than my daily drive policy. A few years ago my classic policy was around 40% cheaper than my daily but this year for the first time my daily will be cheaper. Anyone else finding this or found a reasonable priced classic policy. FYI I have a clean license and no accidents.

My Boxster is a 2nd car also and I found Aviva the cheapest by a long way for my renewal this year, but only through Compare The Meercat site, not direct. it was 40% cheaper than my Flux renewal this year. I know I will be going back again next year or hunting around again.

Thanks good tip. Esure just halved my renewal!!

Worth checking carefully what it covers. My classic policy with LV didn’t cover windscreen replacement.

I've just taken out a policy via Confused.com for my Boxster.  Also for 3k per year (although only managed 700 miles during the whole year!). Includes business use and parked on the drive. Policy is with Hastings Direct, who seem to have good reviews and price is £178.00 fully comp with courtesy car and windscreen cover.  I've only got one years NCB on this car as it's not my daily but happy with the price.

Also, get a £20 voucher from Confused and bought via a cashback site for another £30 back.

Only thing that I'd rather have is agreed value, but the valuation that came up for the policy was £10.5k which I appreciate would probably be halved if there was a total loss claim!!

Previously used AIB, but that was another £100 and also stipulated that the car must be kept garaged which it generally is but I wanted the option to leave it outside should i need to.

Apparently insurance prices are down significantly this year (according to a newspaper article i read), so if your renewal is higher I suggest you shop about. I suspect claims were well down in the past 12 months for obvious reasons.

in all my years of motoring, i've never had a renewal price come through cheaper than the year before, despite obviously being a year older and usually with a years extra NCB. Though whats funny now is that insurers have to tell you what it was the year before, so you can see exactly how much they are attempting to fleece you by if you let a policy auto renew.

anyways, it seems for my boxster, esure are once again cheapest - 34 years old, 2 years no claims (most of my no claims are on my daily driver) 4000miles a year, £250.

Hastings Premier - just renewed for £283, live in central SW London, comes with: Full NCB protection, European wide (plus at home) RAC breakdown cover, zero voluntary excess, key cover, 3,000miles p.a. I have also found them to be easy and very professional to deal with in the past. Worth giving them a shot...

Can you accumulate NCB on a second car? I’ve had classic car insurance for the past 11 years and never accumulated any NCB due to it being added on my daily driver.

Yes you can. Classic policies don't usually accrue NCB. It's not because they're a second policy, it's because they're a classic policy.

My other car is a 1985 'classic' Specialist classic car insurance brokers ceased to be competitive many years ago, here. For the past couple of years, I've been with the Post Office.😀 But the best deal for you depends on many things - no one company will be the best for all.
