JohnGee
Hi, Back in November I bought a 2019 Boxster and have been enjoying the drive. In prep for a longish trip touring the highlands of Scotland I thought I would check the compressor etc under the plastic shroud in the frunk/front. I was a bit surprised to see the paintwork under there is just like a flash spray and is not a nice shiny top coat like the rest of the car (well the bits you can see). Is this normal, or rather are other Boxsters like this? I include a photo which shows what I mean on the crossmember in front of the compartment, at first I thought it was just dirt but it isn’t and a small slightly abrasive rub reveals a pale undercoat,
Menoporsche
I think it's normal, but will wait for others... Welcome to BoXa
JohnGee
Thanks meno, I bought it from the local OPC and thought it must be. I have been lurking on BoXa for a while, some good info on here and what seems to be a friendly forum.

224 Peter
If it isn't on show then why put gloss coat on it? The wife's Mercedes is exactly the same...

A bit of that may be comparing the way they used to paint them vs what they do now. That's "progress" or maybe "cost cutting" dunno. I was also a little surprised when I first saw this on one.
