Alarm going off in garage - things to check?

Just before Christmas, my alarm went off overnight while the car was in my garage. I couldn't see anything obvious, so I checked under the carpets to see if they were dry (they were). It didn't recur, so I left it at that.

The today, it happened again! Nothing obviously wrong, carpets still dry. I did change the battery a month or so ago, but I doubt that is having an effect.

Is there anything else I should be checking?

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Spiders?

That was a swift (and interesting!) reply.

That is a distinct possibility as I've got a security camera down there that keeps getting set off by spiders. The strange thing is that the car has been parked in the same garage most nights for the last 12 years and it's never happened before last month!

If you can find someone with Porsche diags (PIWIS) it can tell you what the previous alarm events were (what triggered them )

But. You can lock / arm the car and disable the interior monitoring - just press the lock button twice in quick succession. That disables the interior sensors and the tilt sensors.

if that stops the random trigger then at least you know it’s an “internal monitor event”

I was thinking of a spider inside (‘er).
I think there have been a few spider alarms over the years.

I've had two in the last couple of years, both times found and evicted the culprits at the time of their offences and both times in the cooler months of the year.

Why did you change the battery? Have you tested the current battery despite it being new.

The battery I took out was 12 years old. It’s generally connected to the trickle charger in the garage, but I was finding that it was weaker after even one night not connected, so thought it was time to change.

I’ve not properly tested the new battery, but it is better according to the CTEK indicator that I’ve got.
