What I didn’t do today !! Front control arms , under tray screws seized solid hit with penetrating spray leave for another day but does look like I will be drilling them out 😡😡

Back from work tonight did one front control arm, after having to drill out 4 of the under tray fasteners, do the other on Friday when I’m back home again, then that should be it🙏🏼

  2. Why oh why! Did front brakes this morning on a friends Audi A6 bothe wheels seized solid two bolts in slightly backed off upp and down the drive braking, did the job wheels removed no evidence of anti seize paste don’t people know ally and steel are Ned mates, just ridiculous poor servicing in its past life … won’t happen again fortunately for whom ever the next time wheels have got to come off…. Don’t these mechanics get properly trained these days?

I adore it... 40k, absolutely immaculate inside and out and has been truly loved and adored by the 2 previous owners.

There is a snag however... I had a better audio experience in my teenage years driving my mums Ford KA around with an FM receiver linked to an MP3 player. It's the only drawback and will be the first thing I look to upgrade / change. They are atrocious, it's even making me think they're faulty but I think I'm just over thinking it.

Does anyone have any experience in upgrading the stock speaker system with a specialist in the UK? I have little to zero interest in trying to do this manually and whilst I've tinkered with custom mods to other cars (most recently the Z4 I had until last week) I really don't want to touch the immaculate trim / interior in this. I've already have people ask me if the plate is private as they cannot believe its a 2013 model.

    So, any recommendations?

Looking forward to joining the community, I'm head over heels ein love with the driving experience of this beautiful piece of engineering already!

Well after a Z4 a wheel barrow would be improvement!! 😂

I've discussed 981 PDK clutch fluid a lot on here recently.

When weather is cold and the car is cold and you fire it up then drive off, do you notice any jerking on the first shift from 1st to 2nd. If you do I'd recommend fresh clutch fluid or at a minimum a top up.

When mine was leaking I'd start to detect this. That was a couple years ago. Recently I've started noticing it again but now the leak is fixed so level should be fine and I'd guess the fluid has been in there a couple of years. I've bought a tub of Millers so I'll drop the old stuff out and replace with new.

If that improves the first gear change jerk, and I remember, I'll report back.

The cost of a 5 litre tub is only about 50 quid [you could just buy 3x1 litre] and it's maybe a 30 minute job DIY so not sure why anyone wouldn't.

I think @bally4563 did this recently

This I did also with new aluminium sump/filter

Thanks for all the information guys.

Good luck getting the sensors out if they don’t budge either heat up the boss extremely hot hot or run around the boss with a arc welder you will need to bust off the porcelain to get a good socket onto the stub

P0134 sensor ahead of cat. Conv, Bank 1

P0154 sensor ahead of Cat. Conv, Bank 2

So that’s two Lambda sensors you need  or erase the codes and run it up the road again

Didn’t really see any codes. Do all code readers, give these type of codes, are a generic or Porsche specific?

I will have to go into it again and see.

Go in read codes , they are generic on a OBD2

I have just been fiddling around with my son’s code reader. Don’t really know what I’m doing. Give me an engine to rebuild and I am fine but this is a little foreign to me.

hopefully I got all these figures in the right order.

    When warming up.

When on idle at about 600 rpm, the MAF is reading in between 19–49 kg/H

O2 at idle reads 0.45 V on Banks, one and two

O2 At idle reads, 2.05 V on Banks one and two

I am assuming that’s the front two O2 sensors and the rear two.

Throttle position sensor, 1 is showing 0.76 V

Throttle position sensor 2 is showing 4.26 V.

    When warm. Idle

    Mass air flow (MAF) 22kg/H

    Mass air flow.            33.5kg/H

    Mass air flow sensor 1.45v

    When warm.

    Mass air flow (MAF) 38kg/H

    Mass air flow.            38kg/H

    Mass air flow sensor 1.75v

Can anyone make any sense of this?

What codes is it showing up ? As in P2361 for example

I had this done from a nice guy on this forum, you need a code, which a guy in Russia can supply.

    Anyone interested let me know.

    Thanks

    Cruise you need a code

My headlights are starting to show some signs of the coating delaminating on the outer edges, and the drivers side unit has gotten just a couple of very small beginnings of crazing, Ive been thinking about solutions. the replacement service (expensive but very nice) going the polish and ppf route, but there is a local company that do a refurb at a very reasonable price, I asked about 2k clearcoat but its not something they offer but they do protect with a UV coating guaranteed for 2 years.. heres what they have said in an email

"For a full refurbishment there is a 6-7 stage process depending on the severity and on average it takes me 2.5hrs including preparation and clean up. Final stages consist of an application of acrylic polish and our own tough, protective coating which comes with a 2yr guarantee against UV degradation.

The standard charge for the pair is £120 (incl.VAT). If the units are severely scratched then there would be an additional charge of £10 as I would need to carry out an additional stage, but generally speaking this is rarely required"

Lots of good reviews and pictures of their work, my thought is will this coating be satisfactory and will it stop any further chances of crazing? Its UV damage that causes the crazing right?  Seems a reasonable price, Im loathe to spend much more as Im only planning to keep the car 2, maybe 3 more years before upgrading to a GTS hopefully and Im trying to reign in my modding desires, there's so much Id like to do to the car, upgrade steering wheel, new wheels, lower it, put spacers on, but for the first time ever Im keeing my eyes on the next car and trying to enjoy this for what it is.

Anyway I've gone on a bit there.. back on topic.. The coating offered would be ok rather than a proper 2k clearcoat? Ill try and get a bit more detail on what exactly it is.. Im assuming some kind of ceramic

Can you provide a link/ details please that seems quite reasonable if they are guaranteeing there work

Are you sure that £80 includes the software activation code itself ?

That sounds like 30 mins labour time to enter the code in PIWIS to me...

It’s coded in just needs activation Service manager said it would be £80

Not bad at all to add it in.  My previous car didn't have it, and my current one does.  I picked up my car from Essex when I bought it (Oct 2021), drove it back to Scotland, so it was a nice addition to have on that journey.  Haven't used it since :)

Yes nice to have when you have to hop on the motorway with all this smart stuff
