I think a roof scrub is in order @Loz987. But as for the spring.... ah just blu-tac it back on, it's fine..... Time for a H&R upgrade?

Went for a nice drive out to Minehead, Somerset.

I fitted some replacement (used) Quadrants to my headlights, replacing split/cracked ones.

Drove it work and back (cold and dry out, perfect!).
Then serviced the Micra ready for sale. £42 for ALL parts for a major! Amazing!
-
Removed the headlights to clean, de-mist & change fog and sidelight bulbs.

Meanwhile I dressed my tyres after getting them all kinds of dirty on yesterday's breakfast run?
some days it's the little things. ?
Funnily enough @Loz987, that is all I did to mine today too. They do say somebody somewhere maybe in another universe is doing exactly the same thing as you. Mine needed it also after the jetwash yesterday morning following its first country A/B road blast in 2 weeks.
I drove it again today to the inlaws and the gym. Nice little run even if a little cold and busy rosds.

I tidied my garage and layed some new carpet. Had a good clear out and binned a dead hoover, mower, hose & heater. Took the car out for a run this morning and this afternoon to run some errands, roads were salty and slippy so took it really steady. Bloody fuel light is back on again already ??

An 18x7 986 wheel will fit in the rear trunk of a 986 with no tyre on it. Anything bigger will have to stand in the front trunk or go on the passenger seat/outside.

Excellent post and valuable contribution to the forum!

good idea boss.
maybe set up a new thread and we can get numbers cranking
I'll start a thread with a rough cost/example, and maybe get the ball rolling. Probably too late to do a 2017 calendar now, although I haven't bought one yet and my Porsche one only has a couple of weeks left (obviously haha).
Other forums have done a "photo of the month" thread containing owners cars, then the voted winner of that months poll going into the following years calendar for that month.
Maybe do Decmeber this month, which means in 2017 we can get it printed at the end of November/early December as December's entry will already be chosen.

my wife has just had some made for family members from photo box, all seem pretty good and not massively expensive.
We could run a poll for the 12 pics, get me the originals sent over and numbers I'm happy to set something up on photo box and just run them off
Sounds like a plan Dean. I was thinking of some company like photo box to create the calendar online easily enough and just have as many as paid for ordered up + a few spares for late comers, with proceeds/profits going to the site or charity.

I don't think so, but I see some real good shots from people on here, and yours would be perfect for December.
Maybe start a thread in the new year asking for monthly photo submissions, and get people to vote for a favourite each month. Those twelve shots make the BoXa.net 2018 calendar, maybe any profit could go to charity?
I would happily organise that. Leave it with me. I'll discuss with admins the best course of action and use of names/logos etc.

Beautiful shot of a fantastic 986 basking, sans roof (good man), in the late winter sun! A contender for the December 2017 BoXa.net calendar methinks?
Thanks @Boxstachimp Are we doing a Calendar?
It was a circa 20 mile B-road roof down blast for the sake of giving it a run for the first time in 2 weeks. Was 9'C, heated seats and blowers on full throttle. Wonderful stuff. Used going to the clothes recycling bin as an excuse to SWMBO.
I have a dozen variations of this photo to choose from if necessary.

Thanks for all the advice and ideas guys. I want black alcantara to replace my full black leather one. Maybe with red stitch. I'd like to swap my shifter for a later different one too. Not a huge fan of the feel of mine.
-
Anybody know a decent/reasonable source of an alcantara shifter boot?

I drove mine to work 2 days in a row! What an absolute treat. Even the little downpour yesterday proves the roof still beads after a Fabsil treatment a few months ago.

& today's special prize goes to Roadrunner68, well done ?
Probably not the best first photo but it was the only one I had that you could sort of see the jets
I had to look a few times to spot the difference!

Wtf is that all about in today's age ? It's hardly difficult to make the tax run from the date it is bought and be able to renew it a few weeks in advance , if they can do it for mot's they can do it for tax. Pure money making scam to renew to the month not the date.
I agree. It should be to the day. Or abolished all together and encorporate it into the price of fuel. Then you only really pay for the "excuse duty" for the miles you will be doing. As somebody who pays £500 a year currently may do 1k or 20k yet pay the same in the same car. Yet as it's based on emissions, will be creating a 20th of the pollution.

I finally got around to insuring it - my good lady paid £230 for 5k miles limited policy.
What is going on with the car tax website - if i buy a tax disc this evening, it will start on the 1st Oct (so 31 days of wasted tax). So i have to buy it tomorrow morning :-(
That's how car tax has always worked I think. You always get that's months whole period that you are in. Last day of the month is the worst cost effective day
What have YOU done to your 986 today ?

It's my car with posh wheels ^^ ?
Very nice @mardell100 ?
Just spent half hour removing front spacers in the dark and drizzle on the drive.
