I find the eBay manifolds enhance any system over the OE units. My 986 definitely sounded smooth and fruity with no deep tones. But then I had Dansk/Janspeed sports cats and rear box respectively which was lovely (especially with all fresh gaskets).
-
I wonder if mated with manifolds and then a cross over pipe retro-fitted, that they would have more tone and less drone?

Just done this mod, how simple, with great results, Ive fitted the LED aftermarket whole light units! This now saves me switching them on!! Love it.
Such a cheap and worth while modification. It really is a simple 5 minute job too. Literally.

probably easier to order a pack. I promised @Dubdubz a couple 2 weeks ago and it completely slipped my mind (embarrassingly)

Yes please if you don't mind. Happy to paypal you the post + cost of diode!
Just PM me your address and i’ll pop a couple in an envelope for you tomorrow. Don’t worry about paying, they cost me about 15p each and I’m happy to help.

I cut mine spot on first try (guess) haha

Just done this mod. Very easy. Worked first time. Took 5 mins.
I have 9 diodes left over if anybody wants a few?

I dont think they do....never really paid that much attention....I am sure it's only when its dark.
Mine only come on in low light or the dark when left in “home” mode.

Do we think one of these 986 eBay jobbies will fit a 987?
-
Well done on buying it back. Im sure for a reasonable sum you’ll have the car back on the road and it’ll feel like the same car once again. Is the car now a cat-N? Probably worth a chat with yoir broker to discuss future cover. Either that or get it MOT’s, inspected and then tax and insure it.

Self inflicted @Jason986S
Rarely drink these days, but managed nearly a bottle of Gin yesterday !
Gin is fabulous, I have what could be described as a jug of the stuff in front off me now. Wife has gone to bed after drinking my stash all afternoon and is feeling poorly. Silly sod. Ah well, peace and quiet watching the grand tour on Amazon. Doesn’t tend to get me royaly p1ssed or a hangover, wonderfull

Just got out of bed @PaulQ, that’s some effort!
-
@PaulQ looks quite dished! But the rim looks really think/chunky which is nice.
-
Put it on a trickle charger and had interest at asking price, we shall see.
-
Im sure my black Boxsters grilles are actually painted a silvery-grey colour and its original. I think I’d prefer them to be back and would probably do them satin black if/when I was to make some mesh grille to sit behind them.

I think the corners need rounding off a bit. Would look good then
Indeed, I'd trim off the corners.
-
Sounds good @PaulQ. I had a "half dished" suede wheel on my previous car and it was perfect. Slightly closer and slightly away from catching the indicators, but they remained in comfortable usable reach. I've got my Royal trimmed factory wheel, which other than being a tad big, is nice.
-
Bit of a bargain @PaulQ. Long as it's not a floppy Chinese momo Rep you'll be good! Looks smart even if the 3 point suede joins are abit "unfinished" looking. A bargain! Suede wheels are nice to use.
-
I took it off my battery conditioner (trickle charger). Looked at it a few times. Opened the garage door to air the garage out as it was a nice day. I also performed an incredible ladder balancing act over the 986 with a rickety old step ladder to get some spare tyres down from the rafters (sold for peanuts to a friend in need - and I won't be using them anytime soon!)

Drove 2.5 hour to Revolution Porsche and stayed in Brighouse two nights while they replaced too many parts to list on here, you would only fall asleep before you had chance to read it all.
Is it sad that I'm actually interested ?

Well hello there!
Say more?
I'm a moron and bought them on eBay just because, haha. Don't fit on any car I own.
They're 4x100 15x7j et38 Team dynamic Pro Race 1.2's. Stupidly lightweight and mega caliper clearance. Got them for silly cheap and had one of my engineers in London pick them up and drop them to my door in Somerset this morning (only agreed the purchase last night).
Going to refurbish/touch-up a few scuff marks they've got and either sell them on, or buy a new cheap toy to throw them on (note: a full set of Falken ZE914 tyres for them are only £145!)

Anyone actually running a 'cheap chinese exhaust'?

Aftermarket stainless 987 eBay decat manifolds are only £185 for a pair with gaskets. Will make MOT time a pain in the bum though if you have to swap them out and that isn’t your thing.

When my sports cats failed on my 986S (in my second year of ownership MOT), I had them cut open and gutted out by a friend. Made little difference to the overall sound really as they were super free flowing anyway. I just bought some second hand cats to pop on for the MOT (bit of a faff, but worth it for the overall performance & sound when decatted).
