  1. @andygo the gloss black is quite easily solved by buying 1 of those magic sponge things for taking marks off wallpaper etc. Then rub the sponge over the black shiny plastic, soon becomes semi Matt, you just need to be careful to do each centre, a similar amount so that they look similar. This is what I do on my Macan with satin black wheels. Obviously stay off the coloured crest. There is also normally a clear plastic stuck over the wheel centre, which needs to be peeled off. These wheel centres can normally be found for sale on Etsy for £20- £30 a set of 4

  2. Ok so just got back from 7days in Holland, 2 overnight ferries from Hull/Rotterdam & return, car double locked both times, no battery issues after either crossing, so can only presume that this disables the tilt as well. I will endeavour to try jacking it up to test the theory, but as out drive is on sharp slope, it will have to wait until I can find time to do it @ my mates.

I 've always put the alarm into "valet mode" ie 2 fast presses of lock button.

Although one year in the 986 I managed to also leave the doors unlocked too.

Last thing you want is to to be that person that needs a jump pack before the rest of the ferry can get off.

Exactly why I am asking the forum!

  4. Hi all, sorry if this has been done to death previously, But does the double lock trick disable only the motion sensor? or does it do the tilt sensor as well?

Going To Holland on overnight ferry & P&O ask for the alarm to be disabled. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance Toddie

I have a pair of pagid disks for £60 plus delivery.  That's 25% of what auto doc is quoted for similar quality.

@mike597 I am looking for a pair of rear discs, are these front or rear?

  6. Got the car back from new IMS, flywheel & clutch being fitted, along with 4 wheel alignment, the car now drives really nice, took it for a good run to York & back 90 miles or so just seems much smoother, sharper & clutch is much lighter.

The single row IMS bearing that came out after 72000 miles has no discernible wear to it, the flywheel wasn’t too bad either, but the clutch & release bearing were well furbared. .

Yes, he's started work on it, gearbox off, clutch removed, it looked well worn.

Sam did my EPS IMS, clutch and RMS back in May last year, he's a top bloke, no BS or keeping you in reception and nowhere near the guys working on your car, straight into the workshop, tea and cake. As it should be.

    I'm in York.

Good to know that they are on with it! never had the tea & cake yet 😀

Was this in Malton? I’ve just been there and seen a Boxster on the lift with exactly that fault description.

Yes it is in Malton @ Sam Lander Porsche, a red Boxster S. Had they started work on it?

just seen in your bio where you are from, did Sam do IMS work on your car?

  9. @Everywhen Thanks for your reply the AOS was changed in 2019 & about 15k miles ago with a genuine Porsche part, so my Indie has decided to leave it alone. I believe that the RMS is being changed as well, I will check tomorrow. Thanks for the. Heads up.
How have you found the EPS IMS soloution? How many miles you got on it.

  10. That Spyder valve bypass route for me is completely over the top, anyone who uses one should get an immediate asbo!

Also any connection with this annoying 🔔end who made this video who exclude it for me.

  11. @Happy Days  There must be parts available for manual Boxster/Cayman gearboxes as someone I know has had gear ratios in his GT4 changed for better race/track ratios. Try speaking to Strasse in Leeds as they prepare/service his car. Not sure if it is a 918 or a 718 GT4.

  12. Took Boxster in to my Porsche specialist for a 4 wheel alignment & check over before trips to Holland & Ireland, whilst there the clutch release bearing decide to start making an horrendous noise, like the bearings have gone square!

So car going to be having new EPS IMS bearing kit, new Sachs clutch kit, & new LUK dual mass flywheel- ouch.

Car has done 72,000 miles and all those bits are original. Just good job it didn't happen on the Ferry to Holland!

  13. @Danncus  Make sure when you take the photo that you have something in an image that shows the depth of the hole, that is important. Also look on the council website, they should have a report a pothole section, see if the pothole that has caused your damage is listed, if it is then you have a problem as the council can then claim it is in hand to be fixed. I had a claim paid by Blackpool council when a raised manhole cover ripped the anti roll bar off my Frog eye Sprite, there were no warning signs.

  14. @TomGW I may be talking complete b*ll*cks (it has been known previously) but if you have the immobilizer pill in the non functioning key, could you not copy the signal from the working key onto one of these clone remote duplicator key things that are readily for sale on bay of thieves etc? using the defunct key in conjunction with the copied code would it work? don't know just a random thought.

Can you imagine how p*ssed off I was that I missed a very rare grey one for about £60.  Facebook is rubbish at just showing you new stuff from your groups and it's getting worse.

I have tracked down someone who can supply genuine carpet and I even a have the plans to have one 3D printed.  Can I find someone with a big enough printer, no!!!

Alternatively you could buy a red one & save £561 on the price of a black one😳 if you are covering it in carpet does the colour matter? I appreciate that the price is mental.

  16. @fizz thanks for the heads up. I know of Tony Banks as I have used them before for an exhaust on my Skoda Octavia VRS estate, The workmanship was nice, but didn’t keep the car long enough to really evaluate it long term.

  17. @fizz, couldn’t you just put it down to doing the rest of BoXa.net a favour by trying Zorstec out😂   I would be interested to hear how it goes or not. Shipley is not too far so would be very interested in the outcome.

Just checking the 986 out prior to an MOT and I don't think that the headlight washers work, (what a surprise!).

Ignition on, headlights on, pull wash/wipe stalk, wipers and washers operate on the windscreen but nothing out of the headlight jets.

Is this the correct operation before I start pulling things apart?

@phazed      Ignition on, headlights on dip or main, then push the wash/wipe away from you, the stalks pop up & the washers work.
