Commute mpg
in 981
Just got back from an 850 mile trip around north wales ( and it was sunny their whilst most of england had downpours) and was happy to see 40mpg at 70mph

Found a Large Syringe usefull to force water down the small drain holes in the rubber pad by the door shut, water poured out at the front. A stiff rubber tube taped to a garden hose trigger gun put into the large Drain holes at the bottom, flushed them out well.

Exhaust nuts bolts done, drains flushed out ready for wet weekend in North wales😟

I also used Brookspeed for my last Major, they were very competitive price for servicing, and a lovely showroom

I think you're down my neck of the woods @alank. Can I ask which indy you're using, pls?
Thanks
Hi ya, I’m in Portchester. That Indy is on the road to witterings near a Porsche dealer Harbour Cars. It’s called AutoTechnics. They are quite reasonably priced, used before on my 986.

noticed cat /exhaust flange leaking, so attempted to change fixings for nut/bolt ( at long last) . after an hour of trying , but not too hard , decided to ring my local indy and they are doing it next week for £80 per side. Not worth the hassle imo for that. Rather spend my time doing something easier. Funny, had an mot last week and it passed, but their is plain evidence of the joint leaking, oh well!

Is their a safe place to put a Trollyjack at the rear of the car in the centre, thanks

cant imagine PPF preventing the crazing that they suffer from , will only prevent stone chips. Also read an article a while ago that Headlights should not be covered with PPF due to the heat produced by the light can cause damage to the lens cover ???

Half covers
in 981
I got one of these , i found it a PIA to fit, so sent it back . Now use a £20 one, with 4 quick fit straps, takes seconds to fit . Into my 3rd year now, 100% waterproof, and no sweating as air can circulate.

Is it possible to get my voltage reading on the Info listing , under Oil pressure, oil temp and water temp. I did try some instruction a while ago but no success. It is a m/y 2014 (63) S. Thanks

As i don't want to fall foul of fitting a non Porsche oil filer when I carry out my GTS's 5,000 mile oil change I popped down to my OPC to buy a filter which I thought was about £16 or so.
5000 mile oil change !! , does it get tracked ?

can you insure a car for track use

That sounds a good price, hardly worth getting hands dirty for that. Have used lots of Pagid on various cars and it seems good stuff.

For the rear it is possible to manually wind back the electronic handbrake by taking it apart like any VW but the simplest way is to get the Carista obd and app on your phone it can do it for about £15.
Just a quick question, does this actually need doing, just watched one of the Jeff Richardson videos, and he just pulls off the disc, and puts back on when demonstrating disc removal. Only time i imagine a problem if their is wear in the inside of drum , causing pads to snag on edge. ??
-
Just watched a video of changing discs and pads and it does look quite easy, i assume the pistons are just push back and not wind in like some cars ?

Just out of interest has anyone used Porches puncture goo which is 10+yrs old. Just wondering if it is still worth carrying it, i carry Holts Large Wheel Repair, I assume you squeeze it in then use the integral pump, then all good, probably not!!!
