  1. Just to close this out, the car got sold to a Porsche Specialist down in the Southwest today for a fair price for all parties.

I am sure it will pop up on Autotrader and the likes soon, it was a great car and has been looked after if anyone fancies it from the dealer.

Sad to see it go but now on the look out for a nice 718 S or GTS to replace it.

Re the steering, one of the big pluses for me was moving back to the old steering feel. I only realised how much had been lost when I moved back……make sure you drive one especially if its got the steering plus which is very light for slow manoeuvres but either way feels a lot more remote when driving……you will notice it when moving from a 987 but often not at first as on a quick drive you will be more aware of cabin changes etc………It should not put you off getting a newer car but don’t assume everything is better 😉

Good point jonttt I haven’t driven one to be fair but the reviews say the 718 steering is much much better than 981 and for an electric rack it’s meant to be one of the best. I’ll have a drive and see :)

Think you are making the right decision. The car market must stabilise at some stage. Even if your car depreciates by the same percentage the fact you are trading up the cost to change will be less

Exactly this, the cost to change budget is mid £20k’s and currently we are few thousand short on a deal so hopefully in a few months we will be much closer :) don’t want to pay over the odds currently and also want certain spec as well.

Liking viper green and racing yellow currently.

  4. Going to service it and keep it for a while longer while keeping an eye on the market.

I think a 718 GTS 2.5 is looking to be the one next, I know it’s not a flat 6 but it offers an awful lot otherwise with great steering and interior and a must have option of PTV as standard which is a great.

We love the 981 GTS but they are too expensive for what they offer IMO and I worry prices will drop swiftly when the market settles down.

The 718 won’t be depreciation free by any means but I think it will be a great car to hold on to and enjoy for a few years. Looking for a decent spec one in a slightly rarer colour :)

Thanks for all the advice we will get there in the end :)

  5. I think the main price reason for the large difference between the 987.1 and 987.2 though was more about reliability and gearboxes.

They 981 is exactly the sam engine as fitted to urs currently.

The more we think about it i think we will get it serviced next week and enjoy it and wait for the prices to drop a bit. Prices on ours should drop less that a 718 / 981 GTS hopefully. Currently the cost to change is anything between £25-£40k which is a crazy amount of cash for not mush more car!

Thanks for the advice all, if we decide to sell privately i put the car up on here first.

If anyone wants to downgrade there 718/981 PDK GTS and release some cash let me know :)

They seem to retail at high 20s so I don't think 24-ish is a million miles away. Poor, honest, starving car dealers got to make a few bob too.

You could alway try to retail it yourself but that seems an unpopular choice these days.

Yet to ever find an honest car dealer :)

  7. I just worry about time wasters, not many folk have cash in hand for luxury cars these days.

I will call ash good and paragon to see what they think, otherwise get it serviced enjoy it for a bit and try again in a few months.

I was hoping to get a better deal against part exing to be honest. so they make cash on both cars but it seems dealers want to offer less than WBAC these days!

Retail from a dealer is around £26-27k for your car so I think £23-24k as a trade in is about right.

Fair enough, seems a bit low compared to some others on the market.

It one of the last ones and better spec than most for sale too.

Maybe this is the true pricing, i'm struggling to see how 981 GTS are worth £50-£55k in this market though, they aren't double as good!

The car we enquired to part ex against 718 GTS was up for £55k WBAC value it at under £48k!

Have you tried any specialists to see what you might achieve?  I think you will do better than WBAC, they are probably pricing that as a standard 987.2 🤔

Only tried a couple of places both lower than WBAC!

Cridfords suggested even lower than WBAC..... Apparently all black editions are the same spec according to them and no one wants the old Boxsters anymore they all want the newer ones! ..... 😂

I got the impression they didn't want it / didn't know what they were talking about!

It has got me questioning the market to be fair prices seem all over the place.

  10. Hi all.

Potentially looking to change out 987.2 BE out for something else (718 GTS Maybe)

    Have prices softened?

Most traders are thinking like £23/£24k against a part ex which seems low to me but maybe I am well out of touch with pricing.

    The car details are below.

    - 2011 (61 Plate)

    Porsche Boxster S Black Edition.

    - 34500 Miles on the clock

Usual BE sec plus the following:

    - PDK

    - Sports Seats

    - Red Seatbelts

    - Porsche Logo on Storage Bin

    - PSE

    - Sports Chrono with Paddles (Sport Design Wheel)

    - Rear Parking Sensors

The car has full history Porsche and specialist history and is due to be serviced again next Tuesday. It has a couple of small scuffs on silver edges of wheel which have been touched in and a couple of small chips on the front and rear bumper but otherwise its very clean.

What do you think we could achieve through trade in / private sale?

WBAC is saying £24400 but will knock a bit off due to wheel marks I would expect.

    Thanks

    Ash

@hopz121Yep I can confirm the above as I have two cases of a very similar size I put in the front, with some room on top at the bulkhead. In the boot I use a  large case

at 26" x 18" x 10" (66cm x 46cm x 26cm) that just fits. The depth is ten inches and its snug and ok provided its not bulging. There is space at either end left and right for odds and ends like a camera bag, shoe bags, what have you. Have a great trip.

Thanks for that, ill be sure to let you guys know how i get on :)

Ill try and get some epic pictures of the car in the beautiful Scottish highlands too

OPC's are still happy to sell these cars despite being 10 years old.......#211 has just come back up for sale at an OPC for £35k.......

nb there is a c25k miler for sale on facebook for c£30k ......I don't know any details of which # it is

    It's a 2011 Manual Car

The only things I know / can see from the limited pictures is it has red seat belts, and has 22,000 miles on the clock.

I don't know other spec / history / condition of the car, the advert isn't overly detailed!

    It's car number 226 of 987

Listed for £29k which if spec, condition and history stacks up could be a great buy. I imaging you'd get a little off of it too :)

  13. Hi all,

Wondering if anyone could help me with the following please.

What are the dimensions of the frunk and boot in a 987.2 Boxster please. (Mainly interested in Frunk)

I don’t have access to ours currently and I am going away in it next Friday and the we are trying to work out the best way to pack and what luggage bags we can take, never used it for more than a weekend trip before so usually just take soft bags. For a week though I was hoping to take two small hand luggage cases and soft bags too :)

    Many Thanks

    Ash
