I think I was right to discount it.

Selling after 3 months of ownership is a massive question mark for me.
I agree this is another red flag.
He does seem genuine though I must say I don't think he is dodgy in the slightest, maybe just hasn't gelled with it or maybe trying to sell for a profit who knows.

I'd be searching though the PCGB site for more info on the car first and then go and take a look at her. Perhaps mention you'd like to have her inspected at your cost and gauge the response...?
I did try that but you need to be a paid member don't you?
Maybe time to join.
I don't think the seller would have an issue with an inspection, the main issue for me is the history and if i sold it one day it could be an issue for others.

Is that first service in 2004? Given what looks like 10 years of 4-5k a year and only changing the oil every 4 years, I doubt the engine is going to be a particularly long lived example and may already have substantial bearing wear. Having said that, with regular changes from now on it could well last as long as you keep it. If it drives well and has been looked after by recent owners it’s probably worth a punt for the right price, but get an oil test done when you get it serviced to see if there are any hidden issues of bearing wear and be ready to punt it on to WBAC if there are.
2007 i think the first one was which would tie in as the car is a 2005

Drive her and make up your mind based on the experience feedback and gut feeling. Your original post mentions a few big ticket items have been addressed but after all , taking a punt on a used motor is always a punt.
Is it a private or trade sale?
Private sale,
The history has put me off going up to see it to be honest but I wonder if was a bit too hasty in my decision.
The guy selling it is a Porsche nut and is selling it to fund another 911, he has assured me it drives well and I do think the is legitimate. He has only had the car 3 months though. He is a Porsche GB member and bought it from another Porsche GB member (this person did the big jobs)

Bodywork is clean, drives well as i am led to believe.
Has various new steering components over recent years, no invoices for suspension or brake lines / hoses.
-
Mot History is ok, only failed once for incorrect colour indicator bulbs but otherwise its a pass with advisories or without.
Nothing regarding brake fluid I believe that's it.
Lots of advisories over the years for tyres, bushes, brakes etc.
Car is £10k it has 90,000 miles on the clock and the last MOT is clean.

Hi all looking to buy another Boxster as a daily, thought I'd found a half decent one and got all excited but then i was sent the history.......only 5 proper stamps (and a couple of stickers) and no invoices between 2009 and 2021. Would this put you off?
The car has had some bigger work done in recent times including RMS, IMS, Clutch, Coolant Lines, Ac Condensers etc but it doesn't scream out a loved and cherished example over the previous years especially towards the start of its life.
Any advice would be great, would this lack of servicing potentially cause premature failure of things / increase the risk of bore score?
The car in question is a 987.1 3.2 Manual
Thanks
Ash

for me the biggest driving difference from 981 to 718 was the huge improvement in steering feel. You didn't mention that @JurrasicGTS ?
I agree its night and day in my experience, brakes feel better as well on the 718!

Amended my spec to -20mm👍
Good lad, you wont regret that.
Makes it slightly more unique than an S then as well as its not an available option on that car

lovely spec, the only thing i would change is the PASM to -20mm otherwise its great and will be a lovely car

I managed to update the pcm 4 maps from 2018 to 2022 today by downloading the nav file from the VW website and adding to an SD card, so much easier than before with the pcm3 🤣
Any extra info on this?
I assume the PCM4 is standard on the 718?

You’ve almost tempted me to buy this. Seems a lot of car for the money, only thing letting it down is it’s a manual.
That is an absolute steal!

So we (its actually my 74 year old dad buying it) went to RPM on Saturday. What a place. Had a full tour and the workshops are something else. Saw a 959 engine in rebuild, too many GT2/3’s to count, a 918, tons of exotic and custom or race 911’s. Their stock is ridiculous!
Anyhow, agreed the sale. The GTS is gorgeous. The headers are almost stock until in Sport/Sport plus and then it just sounds wonderful. A perfect combo. Lack of GTS interior is personal taste I guess, but the two tone is stunning, luxurious but sporty. Zunsport grills, spyder brakes and some nice options make it a special car. My dad is going to have some fun in that car. He has an XK at the moment, had a 987S before and wanted back in a Boxster. He couldn’t have found a nicer one for the spec he was after.
Thanks to the current owner (on the forum) for answering his questions and giving him the confidence to pull the trigger. The car will be cherished!
Great news, I am sure he will be really happy with the car.

I think there is more potential money to be lost in a GTS to be honest.
They are quite a bit more cash than an S, The GTS is a better car 100% but it depends on how much extra you think its worth.
IMO GTS Interior pack is a must as well, that one option i wouldn't compromise on and most buyer want it as well.
In regards to the car in question the interior is very marmite so bear that in mind as when you come to sell it will have a more limited market for it.

That is lovely, must be one of the last 981 GTS sold to being a 2016 plate.
I think the price is a little on the high side but if you are after a yellow 981 GTS you have a pretty limited choice anyway.

But if you want ventilated seats like this one, and they are good, you can’t have the GTS pack with Alcantara.
You can’t have everything 😝
They are excellent if you have leather I’d imagine but they aren’t required with alcantara to be honest and the rest of the GTS pack interior is much nicer than a standard one with cooled seats IMO. it really makes the car stand out for the crowd and it makes for a much more desirable option come resale too.
Grey and brown leather is a very acquired taste too which will put off a fair few people I’d imagine.

That’s not got everything by a long way also missing two key options IMO GTS interior pack and PTV probably the best options on a GTS.

This one looks pretty good. I probably would have been on this at the price
Actually I wouldn't - no heated seats.
Shame about the heated seats but seems good value for money, 20,000 less miles too. Shows how expensive the speed yellow one actually is!

Am I imagining it or was this up for £13999 originally?
Yep definitely not interested now, too rich at £15k you can nearly get a gen 2 2.9 for that!
Don’t fancy loosing 25-33% of its value driving it away from the dealer!
Maybe they are following this thread.

If ownership of this car (to you) is worth "losing" £3-4k when you drive it away from the dealer, then it is worth it.
Are you intending to park your 718 GTS in the garage to preserve it's value and drive this 987 instead? I think you'd need to be fairly creative with the man maths to make that worthwhile.
The GTS is too nice to daily with the miles I am planning on doing in this. It cost over 4x the cost of this. Also parking on a side road in London daily with it isn’t going to happen!
Ideally I’d like a decent cayman but they seem hard to find with spec and they didn’t make a reliable S until the gen 2

Thanks for the replies so far guys, the comments are echoing my thoughts on the car. My main concern is the price as it seems expensive in the current market which looks set to drop soon even lower so it could be a very expensive car then.
The main attraction to me is the colour and the spec and also the fact its up the road form my house.
The car will be daily driven and i expect to loose some money but don't really want to loose to much.
I am away at the end of the week and very busy so i may see if its around when i come back and go from there.

Couple of grand more gets you into a 2.9 from 09 onwards .Much better on a lot of levels namely the engine re design. One here for a grand more .
True but no where ear the same specification.
Advice needed......Would this service history put you off?

Below is the history written down, showing age and mileage gaps, where it doesn't look as bad i guess. I do worry about these stickers though as nothing to back them up. If home serviced id expect to see an invoice for the parts used.
May 2007 - 17483
Nov 2009 - 33894 (30 Months & 16414 miles)
June 2013 - 55553 (42 Months & 21656 Miles)
March 2015 - 66701 (21 Months & 11148 Miles) Stickers (Who's knows if these are legit)
April 2017 - 69819 (25 Months & 3118 Miles) Stickers (Who's knows if these are legit)
June 2021 - 82722 (50 Months & 12903 Miles)
June 2022 - 89443 (12 Months & 6721 Miles)
I guess I am more worried those stickers have just been put in to try and make the history better as there is invoices for the 2009 and then nothing after until 2020.
