If it was a nice day and just took the car for a spin around the block probably not. Your right though….you probably need to wash the car every time regardless of how far you have been or what the weather was like. I also suspect that you need to launder the car cover as well to get rid of any dirt/dust that may have accumulated on the inside….

I hose the inside of the cover, once a year, just with plain water.

it's always rolled up and put in the provided bag.

lot's of faff - wish I could hire a local garage as my one is now a study/office/guest room way before I ever thought about a convertible

I had a genuine Porsche one and still ended up with plenty of marks at touch points across the car….would rather leave it to the elements than go down that route again.

did you wash the car before covering EACH AND EVERY TIME?

    Hi

I also have the same cover for my Boxter do you wash the car before putting the cover on ??

    thanks for any feedback

always always always wash and dry a car before covering. Also a good idea to remove the cover when the winds pick up

  4. we like to be different, otherwise everyone would be driving a 911

if you use Flickr, there is no editing of the url, just slap it straight in here and bingo with a lemon on top!

  5. If it is a stone, then you will have to put a pipe/cleaner in from the bottom to clear it. That is very unlucky considering your drain regime.

Might i suggest some drain guards from OPC once the problem is fixed.

They don't cost much and prevent large objects from getting into the holes.

Has anyone done any performance upgrades on the 2.7 with before and after dyno runs? Looking at exhausts, plenum, throttle body upgrades and before anyone else sais it I know the cheapest root is to buy an S model but my car has very low mileage and is in mint condition..

Enjoy it for what it is and has. If it's a low mileage car, then an unmolested version will command top dollar in the future (when you're ready for an S)

adding bolt ons and remaps isn't going to turn it into a fire breathing dragon

  7. I've had my 987.2 S PDK for 3 and a bit years now. We stumbled upon this spec in many ways and now love it.

Often thought about sctatching the 911 997 itch, but having driven with, and a few of them, I can't justify the cost. The performance isn't anything to shout about compared to the gen 2 S.

It's the perfect antidote to stressful days and a beautiful car in it's own right.

Is it a keeper?  yeah i think it is as i like to travel, take photos, swing golf clubs and being the bank of dad.

Good luck finding one that doesn’t.I used to use one and think it does as much harm as good tbh.Might be tempting getting one that just covered the rooftop but haven’t tried any so far..You can have mine if you like?got stitched in mirror covers etc.FOC.

I don't understand this sort of reply to covers. Had my 987.2 under a cover for 3 and a bit years with no issues.

    cover ONLY after a wash/dry

do not over tighten the straps

    remove in high winds

keep the car polished and waxed.

    it's great!

  9. 2017 will make it euro 6 compliant. Buy the diesel for some giddi up!

For comparison, I have a 2015 BMW X3, with the 3.0L twin scroll turbo engine and it consistently returns around 34mpg no matter how i drive it.

Both vehicles are in the same mid size SUV category, so you want some level of performance with the Porsche badge on the bonnet.

Replaced the fan and temp switches as the old ones had gone white. Managed to put the plungers in back to front and reassembled fully, but eventually realised and got it right. In the process, decided to remove the radio as its never worked and just hisses white noise. I’m fitting a DD head unit next week. Then, by pure fluke, something happened and the radio sprung into life! And I’ve just ordered a DD facia kit and harness for £90! Dang it!!

Uh-oh, went to wash the car and had the idea to take look at the roof elastics before the wash. However, earlier today I opened the roof and when it was almost open heard a loud bang. When closing it again, another bang and the roof refused to close. So now both of the white rods with ball joint ends have snapped. I've read about this before, so I know the issue, but do you guys have good instructions for replacement? Is it something I can try myself (not super handy) or should I take it in for service?

    pretty straight forward.

put tape on the rod threads to mark how far you need to screw the new caps down. Then align one shoulder and manually move the roof so the shoulder aligns. Use the bar in the tools to pry the shoulder on. Repeat for the other side.

Both shoulders weren't aligned exactly, but an inch out, however it has made no difference to the roof mechanism as it was done 2 years ago and works fine.
