Garage said he had sold it to a woman, providing she can get the finance. Said he would know by Monday.  If she can't get finance he is going to contact me.

I meant why did you not think it would be looked after?

Young men want their shiny new toy.  It is us older guys who start to appreciate the older versions.  The kids will always want the latest.

    BUT

That might be changing now as ICEngines seem to be ending and therefore gems will command their value I think as supply will dry up.  So its possible the older is better narrative works due to the ridiculous environmental rules manufacturers are forced to adhere to.

Yes, but this argument has been the same since time immemorial, sea to land, crawling to upright, horse to car etc.

Many early computers are collectable, but it's not for their performance against their modern counterparts.

  3. Why car manufacturers bother to bring out new models beats me, go onto any car forum and the owners of the previous model will swear on their child's immortal soul that theirs is superior.

How they stay in business is a complete mystery as they constantly make their cars worse than the previous offering.

Looks like they have gone with the mileage service intervals rather than the mileage or 2 years, would I be taking a gamble, due to lack of servicing? I know any car is a gamble, but its top price so I expect it to be good,

Personally it would worry me. If owners have been skipping time based services, what else have they neglected?

  5. I think @TROOPER88 may be diplomatically staying out of this thread rather than appear to be "touting" for business so to speak.

@Photogirl, surely it must be worth your while sending him a PM referencing this thread and asking if he would care to give you a quote/advice or both?

  6. It's rare someone dies scuba diving, skydiving, abseiling, etc etc etc.

If you go through life avoiding everything that carries risk, it will be a very sheltered and uneventful existence.

    Woooaahhh!

This thread has me thinking I maybe need to sell my 1300cc, 160bhp, Adventure bike, stop touring Europe every year on it with my mates and cease enjoying riding 5000 miles a year on two wheels!

But then again, I have been riding for 47 years now without a major incident...on everything from 50cc mopeds, through the 600's and 750's, to the 1000cc superbikes - R1's, Gixxers, Fireblades and Ducatis, and now Adventure bikes.

    Am I too old...?

It would be like asking me to stop breathing!

    Totally agree with this.

I'm getting married in December, it would desolate me if Lynn banned me from riding bikes as I simply cannot afford the cost of a second divorce.....

A good meeting with the service manager and a great outcome.
All parts and labour covered for repair apart from parts cost for replacement belt and pully that are considered consumables
    Very happy with that outcome😅

Nice one, it pays to push back when in the right.

Agreed the   warranty eroding excludes “Drive belt, including tensioning and deflection roller”

This is the crux of your argument, the bolt sheared which caused damage to items not covered under warranty.

If that bolt is a serviceable item and you have a full service history from Porsche then either it wasn't replaced when it should have been or if replaced it was faulty.

If it's not a serviceable item, reasonably speaking it should last the lifespan of the car.

The problem is if the OPC stick to their initial position, there is little wiggle room

Belt has come off due to tensioner bolt snapping.

Their initial position is a snapped bolt caused the issue. A snapped bolt is not a wear and tear item, point this out to them in the strongest possible terms.
