@Davey P I actually walked into the OPC to buy a Cayman, schoolboy error though as took Lynn with me who saw the Boxster. 

Luckily I'm a firm believer in the man being in charge in a relationship so I firmly but respectfully told her I would be choosing the colour.

I would say they are inextricably linked price wise, I can't see the difference in price there is currently, widening, certainly not by a huge amount.

The 718 does decouple the drive under certain conditions, so the "coasting" feature is certainly there. 

Not a Porsche, but mine is coded to be off by default on startup.

Regardless of what Porsche say, a fully charged battery should show more than 12.3v surely?

Then ask them why your stop/start is not working and tell them to repair it under warranty.

I'd be asking for a new battery. One of the criteria for stop/start is enough power in the battery, if not enough it won't work. If indeed that is what is causing stop/start to be inoperable, they should be replacing the battery.
