  1. Welcome to the site Bob, great to have you here.

You are just finding the glory of these machines, a bit more time behind the wheel and you will get to know how good they really are. People complain about how much this costs, how that goes wrong etc but they are no different to any other performance car, I had more trouble with a Honda Civic Type R than any car that I have ever owned and Honda's are good.

I've owned mine for 5 years, its now 12 years old and is faultless and apart from consumables and service it has cost nothing during ownership, except a few mods of course :)

Enjoy, have fun and take care Bob.

  2. Had an MOT yesterday, mot guy was impressed with the condition and said shiny a few times whilst fiddling underneath. He then promptly found a nail in my front left tyre, it passed as I told him it has not lost any air (thanks TPMS for once!) he felt it had not gone through as it was a roof tack. will be investigating that at the weekend...........

  3. The sensors feel like a rushed to market exercise, there does not seem a really robust solution out there and the batteries, on a good run do 5 years, which you could argue is time for tyre changes too. But what about if you do a set in a couple of years, do you change the sensors as they are 1/2 way through the battery life (if your lucky) at £60+ per corner. I am fortunate to only run my car during summer, not many miles and the tyres will need changing before they wear out, but the sensors have messed around, on different corners and different times so its a mare come summer, I had a rear tyre of twice before it was sorted, then did not trust the tyre so replaced it. I purchased the same sensors (Beru? IIRC) that Porsche use. If only someone would come up with a design with the battery on the outside!! I would happily change the battery yearly (similar to the push bike light up air caps)......I am ranting ....sorry.

I put a brand name (not known by me) in my Members Rides, but they soon started malfunctioning so I don't recommend them.

I await to see what they put in instead and if it works! I said I'd pay full price for the originals (HUF). Can only tell you when he's done it.

These sensors are a real nuisance and pain in the ar*e, i went down this road a few times, tires off and on....I have asked a forum member with the Porsche software to remove the system (disconnect and reset software) from the car, car is 2010 so legally does not need them in the UK. Then I can change wheels without all the hassle if I care too. :)

Good luck with getting it sorted.

  5. 987.1 cats, 1 in the manifold and 1 in the the exhaust at the coned entrance per side..987.2 both cats are in the manifolds. I would put the std manifolds back on, just as I did.

I have a Carnewall modded pipe and for a while 200 cell cats and not switchable....too loud, sold the manifolds a few weeks later to a forum member with a switchable and he loves em.

Went to the OPC to get a service quote for major service (spark plugs, alternator belt etc) and full PDK -service including both oil changes. I got around £1600 quote for it, it's actually not much more than the independent workshops and the OPC is most convenient location for me - I booked it. The car is running fine, but I hope I'll get some peace of mind for this. ;)

I did this in 2018 when I first got my 2.9 PDK, had gearbox and clutch oil replace and full GEO set too. It was £1900. I do around 400-500 miles a year so do an oil change myself bi yearly and OPC service in between. I have spent a total of 3.2K on servicing in 1800 miles......not sure I need to keep that up?

You can get clips to hold it in place. But its really secure so I dont think I need them.  First one I seen it done on was a Cayman 987.2. So Id say you will have no issues

    Water just runs straight through.

Its meant to give extra cooling to the radiator.

    Thanks Mick :)

Fitted a smile vent to the front bumper. Was really easy with the MRN kit

Masked the stencil in place then set about it with a dremel

    And the end result

I do like the look of this, would it work on a 987.2, is there extra gubbins under my bumper or the same? I dont use mine in the wet but what happens to the water that runs in?

  9. Fitted mine a few years ago, for such a simple gadget it does make it feel like you have a different car. Once you get used to it put it back to standard, the car feels flat. A friend of mines wife has a golf R and wanted a go in my Boxster, being less powerful than her golf I put it in race mode. She now wants a Boxster :)

  10. I use a sprint booster on my 987.2, even though it does nothing but change the throttle potentiometer position, it bought the car alive. No more power or any map changes just improved throttle response that fits my driving. I can recommend trying one.

  11. Mileage in 4 years is 6.5k, now 30k on the clock, last year was the lowest due to rubbish weather and only managed 800 miles, my MOT guy said if he could he would fail on lack of use.....said I would try harder this year :)
