  1. the issue is no dipstick, you do not know how much above the top line the oil is so I would get it sorted as soon as you can, if its way over you could risk over pressurising the system and causing a leak, this happened to a type R Honda after a full Honda service, the muppets over filled by nearly a litre and the rocker cover gasket leaked..... this was their explanation. I never went back to Honda.

    That’s sacrilege!

I am being very gentle with updating, to the untrained eye it will look standard. No USD or the like..... and totally reversible should I ever want to go back. Modern tyre choice was the drive behind it.

  3. I fitted one last week, and yes it certainly perks up the car around town, I know its just pedal trickery but I prefer the way the throttle and gearbox react to my smaller inputs. I have mine set to sport 5 mode.

Hi @EVOChris. I had a few minor issues with seized and rusted bolts on the left cat to rear union, the rear oxygen sensor on the right did not  have enough slack to connect to the new cat due to the angle of the extender so I had to put the hood into service mode so I could access the retaining clip (zip tie) to release the sensor wiring to create more slack, and as you are aware there is a bolt on either side that sits right behind the middle pipe which makes it a real bummer to fit, but got there eventually. Really happy with the new manifolds. Notice the difference more now after doing a 1200 mile/32.5mpg Wales road trip last week. With PSE off it's whisper quiet when poodling around  but with a subtle little burble to it, but give it a heavier right foot and it comes alive with a beautiful howl between about 3.5-4.5k, overtook a lorry under a wide bridge and the noise was really nice. With PSE on it's all I wanted. You get a lovely burble when you throttle off and a nice beefy sound when  giving it some. Been trying to find a way to get a good recording of the sound but my new dash cam doesn't quite catch it, nor does my phone. Will find a way somehow and post it up when I do 🙂

Excellent news, and really pleased you like the sound, I reckon I would have left them in place if I had PSE fitted. Good MPG too for the Wales trip, well happy for you and great job.

  5. Not sure, had my 987.2 3 years now and have no reason to change, but I have noticed that lately I have a fetish for a 718s, it all depends on disposable funds as the 987 is a toy and I have too many other hobbies/toys that get in the way of changing.....

  6. I removed my year old 200cel sports manifolds from my 987.2 this weekend and put the original set back on, with the newly fitted Carnewal rear box it was just a tad to loud for my liking and the early morning neighbourhood, my conscious got the better of me.... manifolds now for sale in the for sale section. :)

  7. Have these on my (87.2, pain in the ar*e. Tyres needed changing and sensors were around 4 years old so changed them as a matter of course. They were around £140 a set which were found through fleebay, no issues in 3 years......yet. Make sure the tyre fitter is competent in fitting the tyres as they can be damaged easily.....ask me how I know.

I'm not sure RE the 987, I don't see why not.

They are a re-designed version of the Revolution CR10, making it better suited for the Boxster, using the correct wheel inserts so you can still your Porsche wheel bolts or nuts. The correct ET sizes have been machined so that the use of wheel spaces to avoid damper contact isn’t required.

I'll let you know more about what they're like when I take delivery!

Cheers JazH, look forward to seeing them :)

Cheers mate - Always slightly nerve racking, but it has passed with no advisories anyway :thumbsup_anim:  Garage owner said it's in great condition for a 13 year old car, so that was reassuring.

Nice, one less thing to worry about. It should be good underneath most of it was rebuilt last year lol.

I'm interested in his exhaust modification too.

I was also looking at other options, such as the Cayman R exhaust, which is a larger diameter pipe, with his modification carried out. But does the Cayman R use the same cats/manifold as the Boxster?

I'm thinking I'll fit sports cats. Not sure whether to go with Top Gear at £1,300, or Carnewal at €1,095. If I went with the Top Gear option, I feel like they're better manifolds, and I could sell my standard ones to recoup some of the cost back.

I went for the topgear manifolds on my 987.2 2.9 and it threw a cel every 10 miles, topgear no help at all so invested in elbows for the rear lambda sensors which cured the cel, mot time it only just scrapped through emissions!
