Hi
This is great. Shame it does not do the frunk/trunk, but that would be asking too much!
So it locks and unlocks the car, but also sets the alarm?
I think from memory when I use the key in the door to unlock my car it does not unlock the passenger one. I have to do that from inside. Maybe my car has a problem also, or maybe its normal.
All the best

Hi
Seat back, check the fuse first! Then make sure the connector under the seat is secure.

Do you have any more details on this? I tried a while back using the soldering iron and jam jar technique, but my iron heated up the metal lid and it all fell apart. I'd also be interested where you tapped into the vacuum system? I'm tempted to have another go
Hi
I had the perfect jar and then dropped it during construction, so ended up using a smaller one with a quite powerful mattress pump. I just watched a few videos and versions then cobbled together using what I had. I did use baby oil and some cotton tshirt for the "bath" at the bottom of the jar.
I wanted to cover the whole system post MAF so I disconnected the pipe from the airbox and MAF, covered the end of the pipe with a rubber glove and pumped air in via the MAF hole. I also pumped smoke in via some easily accessible pipes after also just to make sure I had the whole system covered. I not only discovered my leak but also a blockage (where the SAI check valve plugs in) because smoke should have come out but did not!
My pump was a bit too powerful but I just pulsed it to push smoke around the system. Really you want either 2 people or a powered air supply so you can concentrate on looking for smoke.

Hi
Took a headlight apart ahead of fitting some cheap ebay projector housings.

Hi
I just bought some "Dodo juice supernatural leather cleaner", and a bottle of their sealer. It was recommended by an OCD car cleaning friend of mine. I have tried the cleaner (use a brush to apply). Its unbelievably good.
Modern car leathers are already sealed. So you use it (the sealer) very sparingly. The leather nourishing creams are all a waste of time on such leathers, and just sit on top, make the leather oily and attract dirt. Apparently.

Hi
Great work. You could always swap the seatbacks over to even out wear.
What dye did you use? By coincidence a friend gave me a litre of Gliptone dark blue leather dye today.

Hi
Fitted LED sidelights (Osram), greased all of my selector components in the hope it affects my Tiptronic glitch, and fixed my aftermarket numberplate surround reversing sensors.

Hi
Fixed (I hope) an exhaust heat shield rattle, and fixed (I hope) an SAI issue where the check valve was not drawing a vacuum from the manifold. And washed the car.

Hi
I made a smoke machine and found my air leak today :). I just hope it stays fixed!

Hi
Great work guys!
I fixed both my low speed fans with some ceramic ones from Amazon (0.5 ohm 100w). They are comedically large though compared to the originals. Think very large sausage size.
But they work, and I guess they will stay cooler simply because of the size of them.

Hi
Sounds like a great drive. You are lucky to have such a road nearby.

Hi
Did you have to do much alignment?
I also had my window regulator out (again) today. Passenger side. I cheaped out and bought a repair kit. Unfortunately, and I am not sure why, it did not have enough tension the first time round and the cable came off a wheel. This time everything is nice and tight. It was not a nice experience though. I really do not like the mechanism.
I also cleaned my MAF. The jury is out on it though.

Hi
I put some LED numberplate lights on today. Quite nice! Also fixed the wiring to the low speed resistors up front. Removed the old corroded (not working) resistors also.

Hi
Since the Tip gearbox went back in the car has been displaying a flashing "D for the first few minutes from cold. The Tip works as expected, but it will not go into manual mode during this time, although it will shift on the buttons. So this afternoon I got it level in the air (again) and opened the gearbox fill/drain plug to make sure the fluid level was correct. Some fell out. I really hate the fill process on these boxes. Its cr*p and difficult to get right.
Will see how it is tomorrow morning. The car this evening went fantastically well apart from a slightly rough idle.
Also I soldered on a new button to the remote fob to get it working again, but although it flashes now on all buttons, it will not communicate with the car. I have tried every reset method known to the internet.
All the best

Hi
Took my front bumper off and cleaned out the crud from the radiators. One condenser was totally dead, so removed that as well. Then put some mesh over the intakes and put it all back together.
It took all afternoon, and the vertical screws under the side indicators are a right PITA.

I have one headlight that looks new and one cloudy one. So yesterday was a lot of sanding. Today will be polishing. Does anyone know which PPF film will work well on them?

Berni
Hi,
I bought some clear spray. The PPF I could see on ebay and Amazon was only 30cm wide.

Hi
Washed the 986 for the first time and fitted the console delete kit.
I so much prefer the interior now. Almost worth the ridiculous amount of money it cost.
Took the car for a late fast spin. Got close to the red line a few times. Getting to know the car a bit. I’m quite impressed with the engine. The steering less so. I find it very light. ESP compared to my 993.

Hi
It took me about 30 mins and that was with the gearbox out of the car and the AOS in clear view.

Hi
Made up and fitted a new hood rope, fitted spoiler, put rear carpets back in, tightened up a few bolts, got steering wheel totally straight, checked toe settings with trackrite, fitted front numberplate, drove car!
By the way, these are the rear parking sensors integrated into the numberplate holder. Or at least it would be a picture of, but I have used up all of my quota.

Hi
Finished up adjusting the passenger side regulator and put the door back together. Also stripped out the boot fitted rear parking sensors (one of those tripple ones integrated into a number plate holder) and put back together along with the bumper and new numberplate. And relocated the frunk emergency release to the front tow hook.
Will be back on the road tomorrow I hope!

Hi
Adjusted the new window regulator, but its not perfect yet, and did stage 1 of the home geo. String and Gunsons camber Gauge. Will check things with my trusty Trackrite tomorrow.
