Looks fab, out of interest, why did you not grille behind the vent slats at the same time?
It's the done thing on the forum as it keeps debris away from the radiator/condenser and extends life there. Only ask as I am going through the pros and cons of doing that job.
How did you find the plasti-dip, does it go on okay, there was a pic on another thread of a seal grey 987.1 with black grills that got me drooling and would lead to me doing the job on the side vents too.
Thanks. You're absolutely right re fitting grills. That is on my list of things to do. I've literally just received a plastic grill sheet to do the job. There was no benefit in doing the grills at the same time as there was no extra access in doing the slats. The slats literally just unclip making for an extremely easy job. Here's a pic of a naked slat
I had a good feel around inside the vent to try and assess the best way to fit a DIY grill and decided I'd take the bumper off, clean out any debris and set about fitting some grills then.
The Plasti Dip has a learning curve, hence why I say I could have taken longer to do a better job. I did start getting a few blobs then I realised it was because it was catching on my plastic gloves whilst sparaying and dripping from there. I did pre-warm the can before use as they advise on the videos.
I did actually buy it to do my Boxster S badge but I need to wait for the weather to attempt that one as I have no garage.
Re the side vents I've already covered those with carbon fibre parts. Just waiting on my CF rear spoiler on order from Germany 🙂

Nice, what did you use on the lenses?
👍 wet & dry starting with 800 ending with 2500 then Meguiars Ultimate compound.
I did make use of my recently acquired DA polisher, I did try doing it with a block by hand but that didn't work anywhere near as well

So having done the lens' a short while ago the vent slats clearly looked like they needed doing as they'd obviously suffered the same as the foglight lens.
So popped them off, gave them a rub down then painted with some Plasti Dip.
Could've spent a lot more time for a better result, but nobodies going to be studying them too closely down there, are they??
Freshens it up nicely 🙂

No I don't have front and rear fade
How is your headunit connected to the BOSE amp? You should have some form of adapter for the fibre optic (MOST) cables. Mine is manufactured by Xtrons but Connect2 also produce them.
Read through this:-
Hi Tony. Yes I have the Incartec adapter kit with the analogue to optic converter. The door speakers work fine, just the rear shelf now dead. Do your rear speaker work ok?

Your MOST adapter should send the signal to the amp for front and rear speakers. I used a Xtrons adapter and it works fine.
Hi Tony. 1st mention I've seen of an "Xtrons adapter" So do you have the option to fade front/rear with this?
I would be grateful for any more info. Cheers..Rob

Hi all. Changed my head unit end of last year for a Pioneer AVH-Z5200DAB.
I know it said that you'd lose the back-front fade option, but I didn't think I'd lose the back completely.
I now have a redundant Bose shelf. Anyone managed to get the shelf working after changing the head unit?
It's not the end of the world as the stereo still sounds fine without it, loss of hearing with age helps with that aspect.
But I'd like to have it working if poss.
Cheers

That filter whilst dirty will clean up and can be used again.
Yeh, done that for now. Given it a clean and straightened it out a tad. It just looked so sorry for itself when I 1st took it out 👍

I normally go for BMC and have fitted them to my 3 previous Boxsters.
This time round I have bought k&n for the 981, mainly because I got a deal 😂
I don’t believe there are any performance gains but they do improve induction noise particularly if you de snorkel your car. My last BMC sounded particularly sweet on my 987.2 especially coupled with the pse😎
same set-up as mine currently then. Love the sound. I've given it a clean and straightened it out a tad for now. One thing I've learnt is don't do this sort of thing when it's as windy as it is today. I've got so much tree debris in the car and engine and roof compartments now. Just going to have to clean it all out again 🙄

Soul not sole 🙄

Hi All.
Finally got my engine cover off today to check the air filter and have a nosey.
Anyone got any recommendations for a replacement air filter?
I normally go for K&N but this poor sole is BMC I believe

Isn't it just a nice feeling to have new rubber boots?? 😍 One thing about now having the Boxster is I can't swap the fronts and rears around as I normally do on my usual front wheel drive cars. Jontt, if you see this can I ask that you drop me a PM? I'm after some advice re a rear spoiler same as yours. Your message box may be full. Cheers...Rob (Gramps)
Foglights and vent slats refurb

Already de-snorkeled. I used some aluminium mesh that my son had left here many years ago when he had his Scooby P1 and painted it black. Looks absolutely fine in there.
Just get hold of the rear of the slat and lift it up, they unclip really easily, very pleasantly surprised, I was looking for all sorts of awkward unremovable screws when it just popped off, result 👍. Be interesting to see this stencil if you find it
