Think I've just about completed my range of headwear to suit every occasion that I'm out on a roof down sunny day 🌞
Colour co-ordinated of course
The full set, though I may be tempted with a grey bucket hat as they were out of stock so I went for the white
Ps. you have to allow for my rapidly encroaching old age 🙂 . Can't be young and trendy all my life 😌

See how it goes. Standing offer to plug in the diags and see if anything is logged. You aren’t that far away from me and happy to help if I can.
Much appreciated Paul 👍

My car would do similar but would be second start after cold start. So out the garage. Turn it off. 5 mins later start and it would fire, run, die.
I had a service recently. They changed plugs (otherwise just a minor. It’s not done it since. )
same / different who knows but that’s all that changed on mine.
Hi Paul. Mine fires up straight away and runs clean, till it stalls if I don't pull away within 30secs or so. May get round to changing the plugs soon anyway. Will have to see what develops if anything 👍

So, this has happened to me twice now on my 2011 Boxster S, both times after a lot of driving over a few days (road trip to Lake district last year and another to Cornwall this month), the car is all warmed up but I'd stop at lights whatever for a short while and the engine stalls whilst idling, no rough running prior, just cuts out. It starts straight away and runs sweet as a nut again. But I found this time round that if I re-start it and let it idle for 30secs or so it would stall again. I tried this same procedure 4 times and each time it stalled after about 30secs and started again clean as a whistle. It does occasionally try to save itself from stalling and gives itself a squirt of juice which would keep it running but roughly. Again if I re-start it it runs clean again, If I re-start and pull away before the 30secs are up it's fine. Anyone out there come across this before or know what it might be? Air flow sensor or the like? TIA for any help....Rob AKA Gramps

I've seen that done with a Ctek lead, just be careful of the wiper mechanism or boom!
Good call. I'll have a check 👍

Having read of the issues some have had in opening the bonnet when the battery is flat I thought I'd take some pre-emptive action as it's bound to happen some day. So I've run a feed, using an old battery charger connector lead, from the battery and brought it up under the cover on the lower screen cowling which pops off very easily so a charger can be connected as easy as you like. Have ordered he connectors to fit, and yes left the wire disconnected to the battery for now.

Changing brake fluid isn't like changing engine oil, you don't drain it all out, just flush new through so there is no air ingress
Doh! You're absolutely right of course. That was what I was missing 👍

They didn’t entirely, but as there is 2 bleed nipples on the calliper they did what they could & I finished the job off 👍
👍 That's good then, they done 99% of the job and there shouldn't have been much if any air left in the system and negligible difference in the fluid. Thanks for clarifying 👍

Nope, just advised me of the issue. I’ll take a look for myself at the weekend
Hmmm, so how did they bleed that particular caliper? Or have I missed something? Just curious 🙂

Hi all. I unclipped the leather boot and it seems I have the standard shifter. Does anyone out there have a short shifter fitted? If so how much difference does it make to the travel fore-aft? As I mentioned before my travel is about 10.5cm measuring at the centre line of the gear layout on top of the knob. It would be interesting to know how much difference it makes. TIA..Rob

Look for XCZ on your build list. XCZ = Short shifter according to the 987.2 V pages in the parts catalogue. Standard shift assembly part number 997 424 010 00, short shift 997 424 983 00.
👍 Thanks for the info, I was wondering what the code might be for the short shifter. Must try and find if I got a build list with the paperwork when I bought it

Hi All. So, how can I tell if I already have a short shifter fitted? The gear change seems ok at the mo but if it can be improved with a short shifter then why not??Only way I can think of, other than taking it apart and looking, is by the fore-aft travel. Measured from the centre line on the gear knob my current travel is about 10.5cm between fore and aft. How does that compare to those that have one fitted? Or does anyone know an easy way of checking? Its a 987.2 Boxster S by the way. Cheers...Rob

32.5mpg I could not get that even if I was towed!! Must have a very light right foot!!
It got up to 35.5 heading from London till I got near Wales. Took the A roads and enjoyed the ride, enjoying the theatre of the exhaust when I could. But got stuck in traffic jams here and there, especially M5 and Bridgwater 🙄. So 32.5 overall was excellent for a 3.4L 333HP motor, beats the wifes's Jimny, only got 31 out of that 😄

Excellent news, and really pleased you like the sound, I reckon I would have left them in place if I had PSE fitted. Good MPG too for the Wales trip, well happy for you and great job.
👍 I can see how it might have sounded a bit too much early morning starting it in your garage with your Carnewal mod as well, it must have amplified it quite a bit, even with the sound deadening carpet 😉. I'm amazed how quiet it can be without PSE, really nice to be able to switch between the modes to suit the mood (or other half if she happens to be in the car 😉). Thanks again Chris 👍

Hi @EVOChris. I had a few minor issues with seized and rusted bolts on the left cat to rear union, the rear oxygen sensor on the right did not have enough slack to connect to the new cat due to the angle of the extender so I had to put the hood into service mode so I could access the retaining clip (zip tie) to release the sensor wiring to create more slack, and as you are aware there is a bolt on either side that sits right behind the middle pipe which makes it a real bummer to fit, but got there eventually. Really happy with the new manifolds. Notice the difference more now after doing a 1200 mile/32.5mpg Wales road trip last week. With PSE off it's whisper quiet when poodling around but with a subtle little burble to it, but give it a heavier right foot and it comes alive with a beautiful howl between about 3.5-4.5k, overtook a lorry under a wide bridge and the noise was really nice. With PSE on it's all I wanted. You get a lovely burble when you throttle off and a nice beefy sound when giving it some. Been trying to find a way to get a good recording of the sound but my new dash cam doesn't quite catch it, nor does my phone. Will find a way somehow and post it up when I do 🙂

I removed my year old 200cel sports manifolds from my 987.2 this weekend and put the original set back on, with the newly fitted Carnewal rear box it was just a tad to loud for my liking and the early morning neighbourhood, my conscious got the better of me.... manifolds now for sale in the for sale section.

@Gramps Now you’ve fitted and seen 5 and 7mm would you go wider to 7 and 15mm?
@Bayernlarge no, I'm happy with the 5s & 7s. In my younger days I'd maybe have gone wider I'm happy to have that tad wider stance and not look too boy racerish (at my age), as I said before it's all down to personal preference. I believe the car could easily have taken 7s and 15s so that would not appear to be an issue. Too wide spacers can affect the bearings over time as they are obviously under more stress, indeed my wifes car has quite wide spacers (we bought the car with them already on) and having done just 23k miles it received a wheel bearing advisory on it's last MoT. Couldn't say it is def down to the spacers but it is always at the back of my mind. I believe Porsche offer 5s as a factory option so that would appear to be safe. 🙂

Nice work @Gramps
What size spacers did you get? Are the photos before or after fitting the spacers?
I’m going back and forth on whether to get some, as I’m not sure I’ve got the clearance (even though it seems to have been fine for many other 987.2 owners)
Mine has 19 inch wheels and PASM which I think drops the ride height by 10mm. Not sure if that makes a difference?
Morning @Bayernlarge , mine are 19s and I also have PASM, which as you say drops it by 10mm. But I was more concerned with where the wheels would sit with spacers on. 15 rear and 7 front appears a popular option but I thought that'd bring the wheels out too far, but each to their own of course. So I settled for 7 on the rear and 5 on the front. Not a huge difference but gives it just that little bit better stance. Here are a few pics of before and after on front and rear and current side profile. Hope that helps.

Spacers turned up as well, so a bit of TLC in the wheel area. Wheel is not the finished article, just gave it a going over to see if it would come up ok. Spotted the drilled discs were a bit bunged up so drilled them out to clear out the crud, pic shows job part done. Also spruced up the wheel arch liners and forward mudguards. PlastiDipped the mudguards after rubbing them down and cleaned and Armoralled the liners, amazing the amount of crud that builds up behind the liners. Washed and brushed the inner wheel arches down as well.

Birthday present = spoiler

Birthday present arrived , nothing too drastic, all coming together nicely. Got to PlastiDip the Boxster S to bring that out so it all blends in. If I can find one I might see if I can get a wide LED tail and brake light to fit under the spoiler.

If you remove the inner bulkhead/ inspection cover you can see it fastened on the inner side passenger side
Cheers Bally4563. Never had the inner bulkhead cover off yet, always nice to find out that little bit more. Will take a peak 👍

Yeh, fingers crossed. Got a new memory card for my dashcam come through today, just in time I thought but the camera rejected it as not being class 10 🙄 Teach me to buy off Fleabay. Will look into the October date 👍
