  1. If l leave mine outside for a while I always turn my heating fan off so the flap is always closed under the pollen filter.
Was the pollen filter itself wet?Depending how you park, slope wise, water can still find its way in as the plastic cover isn’t great.

The only thing similar to the concept is the wheels the rest is standard Boxster

I think there are gold accents in the way of the Callipers and grills but not entirely sure. It’s going to be at the Classic motor show NEC tomorrow

  3. Am I on my own getting cold hands on drives out over winter? A lot of owners on here go on about must have heated seats but don't find any part of my body gets cold just my hands. Do the usual,  point the vents but only mildly helps . Do people actually drive with gloves? Any recommendations?

  4. I see Cotswold Porsche colour a few of non S version callipers red on customers 986’s. I wouldn’t of thought painting your callipers will plummet the value of your car and tbh I think you will have to wait a very very very long time for a 986 to ever be worth much, there are just too many even the finest examples are still usually less than a new fiesta. I would do what you like and just enjoy the car 👍

  5. It’s time to have my wheels refurbished over the winter months.

Do I stay standard or go for something more individual/poss homage to the latest anniversary edition.

Please see Gold wheels post for pictures kindly photoshopped by @Topbox

love to know fellow 986 owners thoughts

    Thankyou

I need to do these, one of mine looks in a bad way; they’ll be on the next OPC parts order.

    How tricky?

Very easy!  I was advised to apply a little silicon grease to them and do them one at a time so one side was always supported. Also to put a rag in the drain hole while I done it just incase I dropped anything 😬

What are they and whereabouts do they go?

There the rubber washers that go on the other end of the roof operating rods with the red ball sockets where they bolt onto the v-lever. Mine were quite worn resulting in a fair amount of play. (If that makes any sense)

Has anyone had this problem? The roof has come unstuck at back underneath the window. Gone very quick , the glass is surprisingly heavy and not helped. I live in Bristol and cant find anyone local to help. Has anyone had it repaired properly?  Dont fancy attempting myself as far too complicated to glue and hold with the glass.  Happy to drive a few hours to get it done properly, thanks

*Tried adding pic but phone pic too big..

Have you tried B.A.S International they are only about 40mins away from you. They may possibly give you some advice.

Even the mighty BoXa.net doesn't have an answer to all technical issues. However if you write up a :How to" that's one more technical issue BoXa.net can resolve in the future! Well done BAS for stepping up!

Totally! Bit of a lengthy explanation to write down unfortunately.
All I understand from my experience is that if one of your cables eventually snaps the alignment would have been gradually going out as it was continuously being used so not always a simple fit and forget. Then it’s quite a lengthy process syncing everything back up as you can’t just rely on the motor markings.
If you are going to do this yourself it is well worth talking to someone who knows there stuff first but is very easy to do once you know. Must say again a massive Thankyou to B.A.S International!

  10. Not much feed back on this here! Luckily B.A.S roofs came to the rescue 👍 talked me through it and all good again, even offered to look at it and sort it free of charge.  They were fantastic !

  11. So I had a look at my roof today which had been noisy and then stopped working ( had previously posted before ).

Found drivers side flexible roof drive cable had destroyed itself so popped off Exeter Porsche and bought a new one £30.84p

Before fitting after searching lots on internet took out roof gearbox to check nothing was damaged inside that may have caused undue stress to snap the cable but all was good, reassembled and checked alignment by markings on casing and fitted, also checked other side and marks aligned.
Fitted new cable and put everything back except clamshell that I had unbolted just for access and tested.

Well everything works now quiet as a mouse but the roof doesn’t open all the way down, it looks like it’s stressing the roof 6” before fully open. When I put it up it’s fine but doesn’t stop via a micro switch , is it meant too? I just can’t remember. I’ve definitely done something wrong🙄

Not sure where to go from here?
    Any help gratefully received 🙏

Get a video of the issue and post the link on here. Might help folks to help you further.

    Ok Thankyou

Just to say after a little fiddling managed to get it to move into service position, very noisy at that, all rods correct but did notice when I lowered it back down the clamshell on the drivers side is loose as you can move it up and down with your fingers in the panel gap so assuming it could be the cables?
    Thankyou

  13. Went and had a quick look today and first process of unlatching roof and windows going down all fine, press the roof button and hear the motor trying to operate but nothing happens.
Any ideas or is this a trip to the local independent? ☹️
