From the pictures you can barely tell it’s gold,   very subtle.   I’m thinking of doing something similar with my wheels, but I’d probably go with a slightly more obvious gold, maybe Aurum or similar (Blue car).

Out of interest, if you don’t mind me asking, how much did you pay for your bumper respray? again I’m looking to do similar and would be useful having a price base. pM me if you don’t want to put on open forum.

I did look at quite a few images and cars in person. There are a nice selection of goods Porsche so depending on how gold you want them to be.

The front number was just over £600.

  2. I like these threads. Always like Porsche but couldn’t always afford the ones I liked. I almost bought a cayenne 9 years ago as a one car garage but it just wasn’t exciting enough and I bought a Lexus isf instead.

We even bought a family car and I had the chance to get a 997 991 carrera s but bought a lotus Evora s sports racer instead. It just ticked more boxes for me at the time.

Before I bought my 981 cayman s I was ready to buy a jag f-type v8 but it just wasn’t sporty enough for me. There would have to be a very special 2 seater come along to stop me buying another cayman when I come to change this one.

  3. One of the the diamond cut carrera classics needed a referb due to laquer coming away. Eventually all would need referbing so decided to get them colour changed.

I looked at the gold colours Porsche offer and went with weiss gold. The most subtle gold they offer. Had the front number resprayed at the same time. Had 35k miles and 9 years of stone chipping to sort.

This is a weekend car for me and it makes it feel more special. It won’t be for everyone but I’m pleased 👍

    Maybe it's historical then.

Any history showing the high-pressure fuel pump has been replaced ?

I guess a read of the fuel pressure live values would rule out the pump if it was an active code.

Was this error shown on a PIWIS or some other code reader ?

Nothing in the documentation I have but could have been done while the car was under warranty so wouldn’t see it.

He didn’t say what machine was used. I imagine it is a historical code. If I have no issues I’ll have the car checked come service time late next year.

  5. Ta. Came up from the diagnostic when they replaced the bumper.

Their read out states ‘no fault saved in system ecu, ecu could not detect fault’. But it shows as a fault. May just be an incorrect reading? Seems fine.

  6. I got the car back today from having some work done. The main thing being having the carrera classic wheels painted weiss gold with satin laquer. Won’t be to everyone’s taste but I am very pleased and it ties in nicely with the gold badges. The car needs a proper clean then I’ll get some better images. Had the front bumper sprayed too.

Oh dear not a good story. I have run my 981 without warranty for almost 4 yrs now but I still service at the OPC just to keep the history up. Slush fund in place just in case.

Have decided I’ll do the same now. Paid for a aftermarket warranty for my first year just for peace of mind. Will take it to Colchester OPC for servicing and Indy for any repairs needed.

I think pricing on discretionary spend purchases are softening. As an example, the Rolex market has seen some substantial price drops already.

We might be able to afford a 4.0 GTS by the end of this winter?!

Indeed all luxury goods have slipped and I think will slip a fair bit further. Until people can see a light at the end of the tunnel many will be tightening purse strings.

The WBAC offer on my 2013 Boxster is now less than I paid for it in early 2020, after a high of almost £5k more (that I saw at least).

I was quite disappointed when I saw the price drop, not that I'm seriously looking to sell but I am always browsing...

I would use autotrader as the benchmark as pricing reflects options which massively alters the price of these cars.

  10. Prices of the cayman s 981 seem to be pretty much the same as when I bought last December but the 718 4.0 GTS’s I am keeping an eye on are coming down. That is what I would expect from both given their respective ages.

I guess it’s all car, model spec dependent.

All this post does is make me realise how fortunate I am to have swapped my Boxster for a Cayman...

But well done on sorting it out mate, and thankfully no harm done to the electrics under the seat :thumbsup_still:

Haha! It was a consideration when I was choosing and I ended up with a cayman. Clearly regular checks is the answer.
