  1. I assumed this was very very rare and while I still believe that is the case and if warmed up and used properly they seem to be bullet proof, they are not invaluable. The Indy I used for my aircon work said they have replaced 3 in the last two years. All refurbished items direct from Porsche. 7.5k for the unit then 2k ish to install. I was surprised to hear this.

I think both have PCM and non-PCM Nav have their place.

PCM for if ever "offline" and also for the waypoint navigation in the "third dial".

That said CarPlay with Waze is becoming more the "goto" for me.

I keep thinking about doing the update but the route options are not as good as Google, Apple etc. Also, me and my mate have pre planned routes we share on Google maps so everyone has the same route incase we lose folk etc.

Cheers, I'll get mine done then I reckon.  Will help out with some more planned road trips.

So you prefer Porsche over Google maps, Apple maps, ways etc then?

  4. It’s an Indy, breakdown is below. They offered non Porsche parts but I’d like to use genuine items.

The cost of 2 no Porsche air conditioning radiators is £602.82p +VAT@20%

The air conditioning dryer from Porsche = £64.14p+ VAT@20%

Labour to remove and instal new air conditioning rads 4hrs @£90.00p+VAT@20%

    Re-Gas air con @£95.00 +VAT@20%

    Total cost £1121.96p + VAT@20%

Car in and out of Kwik-Fit this morning. No leaks detected in their diagnostic run through. Aircon now proper cold. Strange it lasted such a short period, but back to what it should be now at least (am I the only one who is a bit sceptical about using Kwik Fit.. ? it’s just very handy for me just down the road)

Hmmmm. Sounds odd. Personally I never use them. Just a personal thing.

Hopefully yours is sorted. Did you ask of they did a compression and leak test?

Mine was supposed to be in with a local specialist today but will now be going in tomorrow.

I tried the stiff PASM setting several times when I first bought mine and thought it was overly stiff on the lumpy roads round here.  Figured it would only be useful on track days, which I never intend doing.

Didn't bother with it again until on the Dragon's Throat run earlier this year.  Admittedly had Sports + on by accident at one point and decided to leave it on.  It was better than I remembered so I've used it a couple of times since back in Kent and whilst it highlights the occasional bumpedy bump I've found it not as stiff as I'd initially thought.

Just for context, for over a decade I've been used to countryside hacking on softer suspension with more travel, a better ride and more subtle handling nuances with smaller wheeled and lighter Elises.  So a different proposition but there's still plenty to enjoy with the sledgehammer approach as well.

Another thing I've also been trying out recently has been to keep it in non-Sports mode, paddles only (my default unless on motorway/in traffic) and PSE on.  This also has an appeal, whilst it loses out on the response "feel" it seems to have a little more of a "pop" on the up-changes and less of the snap and crackle on overrun.

It's nice to have these toys to play with 😎

I do the same with PSE and normal mode. I also find having PASM in the firmer setting on fun drives gives a more exciting drive as you feel considerably more through the car from the road.

Not related to original post, but vaguely similar - and advice would be good from others.  My Aircon just isn't cold anymore.  I had it recharged last November and it was icy cold then.. have Zunsport grilles on.. so I'm hoping that it isn't condenser(s).  Heading back to local KwikFit (who did It last Nov) on Tuesday to see what is what..

Could be any manner of things. If it took that long to lose its temperature it’s very likely a slow leak. I imagine I am in the same/similar boat. Mine was also recharged last November.

Let us know what they find.

Yes interesting to hear what they say. See link below....different cars but similar kind of issue being reported when refrigerant is low, maybe a leak ?

    https://www.718forum.com/threads/no-aircon-on-passengers-side.23023/

    Anyway good luck with sorting...

I was thinking the same when I stated looking around. Would make sense given lack of error codes. I’ll find out soon enough!

Also, now not cold on passanger side so very likely a leak somewhere.

I had a similar issue with my right hand side vent not passing warm air. It sorted it self out as I had a new battery under warranty and not reappeared since.

Maybe try disconnecting your battery for a few mins and then put ignition on (still with battery disconnected) to drain any residual power in any capacitors. Turn everything off before reconnecting the battery.

I may be talking as much nonsense as a prime minister here, but it costs nothing to try!

Not nonsense. Investigations did recommend disconnecting the battery to see if this resolved the issue when reconnecting. Sadly not.

It looks like it is likely to be a temp sensor or an actuator for the blend fins than determine vent temperature.

sorry for delay Ringmaster999.  The company ,as Stuno1 says is Motoreasy. My contact is Mark.Coyle@motoreasy.com.

I pay/and will pay at renewal, £790, £40 Dep and 3 interest free payments of £250  for 18 Months cover.  The cover is as i have mentioned above in this thread. For more info look on their web site.  cheers  alan

I have emailed him to see if my policy can be amended to include them as opposed to being a 1k contribution. Did you take out the ‘plan b’ cover?

Reading this thread made me think about my 3rd party warranty, which is due for renewal in a couple of months. So i e-mailed them specifically asking if Active engine mounts are covered and reply was yes 🙂,   what with the other specific parts that are covered, £200/hr+vat labour, no excess, no consequential failure, wear/tear, etc.  it seems to almost be mirroring a OPC one. Hopefully wont have to try it, but i have done all i can to try and secure decent cover

Interesting and good news! Assume this is Motoreasy? I’ll enquire about my policy if that is the case. Is it a ‘plan b’ policy?

  12. There was a thread on this on PCGB the other day. I’d like to move from my 981 s to the 4.0 GTS in a few years and assumed it would sound better. Nope, another car strangled by opf. Means it will need an exhaust which won’t be cheap. I’ll make the move and buy an exhaust though as I am expecting it so be a better car in all regards. Some time away yet though!

  13. I am undecided about this. I have always used car built in satnavs. Since Apple bought TomTom I have always used Apple maps. It now also (like ways) warns of speed cameras and notified accidents or issues with roads as well as allowing users tolog identified issues.

Bluetooth integration as well I can play through the car and play music through my phone into the car.
