I would also be looking at our local Indi, but as mine has full OPC history and every Porsche document including the original order form, feel I have to go OPC, unless they want an exorbitant £1400 for a service.
Mine came with all of that too but last 2 services at an Indy. I’ll get a quote from Porsche Colchester out of curiosity. If it’s close I’ll use them but can’t see that being the case. As long as a Porsche Indy is used I don’t think it will hurt the value at all.

Interesting conversation. I’ll be taking mine to a reputable Porsche Indy. It’s last service was at an Indy so no value paying main dealer prices now for stamps in a book.

I decided to pass on Sports Chrono because of the number of failures the PADM seem to have and the high repair cost.
I'm not going to be tracking the car and I don't think I would notice the difference on the road.
Yes I loose the stopwatch, launch control, sports + and individual modes via rotary dial on the wheel but I still have a sports button on the central console
I considered that too. For me the modes make a massive difference and launch control is an absolute hoot. The character of the car changes dramatically between the modes. I am happy to stump up the cost to replace the mounts if needed. The key is knowing pre purchase so the owner is not surprised when it happens.

I think we all buy these expecting both sides to fail if we have sports chrono. As such expect a £2400 bill to cover both sides. Not ideal but it’s a likely failure.

If you are changing hoses anyway then I would go braided. If you drive the car hard it will give better brake feel as the fluid heats up. I see no reason you wouldn’t.

Haha. They are expensive but brings me peace of mind knowing it’s done.

I am going to have all the bolts replaced. Better safe than sorry.
-
Had the MOT done and even with the smoked rear lights it flew through.
I asked the garage to check the exhaust bolts and it looks like some have been replaced. Manifold ones look good but cat ones (near the cat) and some others are showing signs of rust.
I have orders titanium replacements as I’d rather get them all sorted and know my exhaust won’t fall off!
Got mine from here.

Definitely looks better, just tones them down a bit.
I agree and that was the intention. Not to black them out but to reduce the very bright red.

Some better images.

Changed the key fob plastics. Happy with the result. The old ones were a bit between up.

I don't like them standard either but that's just a shade too dark for me. Centre light works well though.
It was a fair bit darker when I took the ‘after picture’ but it could be a tad lighter yes. I’ll get a better image tomorrow when it’s lighter. As it is PPF there were only two options and the other one was almost no difference to standard.

They look great!
I went the GTS route but I’ve still got the original reds in the loft, so it maybe a option if I get bored and not to expensive. Did it take them long or a while you wait type of job?
Not sure I left the car with him for 5 hours so he had plenty of time.

Looks good 👍 I went the GTS route but yours might well be an alternative route for many. Good results 👍
I did consider that but the prince put me off. They look good though.

All done. Happy with the results. It just dims the brightness of the red. It was £80 plus VAT.

Interested. So it’s just film over the lights?
Curious to see how long it lasts, for some reason I am suspicious of water ingress under the film. A lot of edge for a small area maybe.
Ppf is great for that so can’t see this being any different. Time will tell.

I am waiting on the quote and will update once I have the details 👍

Having been to see a chap who put PPF on one of my older cars about tinting the rear lights and fog light I’m going for it on Tuesday.
For me the lights are too red. Also, not sure I care enough to buy replacement GTS style clear lights.
I don’t want them black but want the red dimmed. We test fitted a light tint/smoke ppf and it looked great. It took the redness edge off. Doing the lights meant also doing the fog light so it didn’t stand out too much.
I’ll post before and after pics once it’s done.

@Menoporschelooking good. I think the 718 lights are a step too far but keen for someone else to try it to test that theory.
I agree I am looking at getting my red 981 rear lights smoked to blend in better with the black paint. I’ll be seeing a chap later to experiment with darkness I am after. Will be doing the ducktail spoiler too next year I imagine.

Went for my first propper drive today with my buddy in his FF and oh my the Cayman is a hoot! A lot to learn about the car in terms of best gears to be in, learning the driving modes etc. Many many fun miles ahead.
What have you done to your 981 today?
