Pierrick
YES! You guessed it! I was on my way back home yesterday and on the last roundabout just before to get home I went into it a bit too enthusiastically, lost the rear, span the whole car and the left rear went on to kiss the kerb! When I say kiss, I mean the kerb didn't move and the wheel and everything attached to it didn't like it! I bought the car only 6 weeks ago, but it is not like I didn't drive it... I am just coming back from a road trip accross France, Italie, Swiss... and I have done more than 3000 miles since I bought it! Anyway, first time I have a "big" crash, and I am still kicking myself! So, what is the damage: Alloy wheel is dead and I probably won't take any risk with the tyre. Hub has broken clean at the top leaving the shock and spring apparently unmarked but while I am at it I will change the lot anyway. Control arm (coffin arm) has a small crack but didn't brake, instead it broke the "H" shape bracket where it is fixed to and left a dent on the exhaust but nothing serious. There is a rear "arm" broken too. Don't know the name but it is fitted with a nut and "adjusting washer". Drop link and anti roll bar look ok but will get replaced too as it is difficult to see if the anti roll bar moved at all. Anyway, the car is home, I had it inspected today and the shaft, gerabox and structure of the car is fine. The whole force of the impact went to the bottom of the wheel which made it rotate in a way is shouldn't and the aliminuim pieces didn't like it... So I am mow looking for someone who is breaking a Bosxter S... the closer from Milton Keynes the better. Ideally I can get the whole package (suspentions, shock, hub, disc... the lot) from one donnor car. I already contacted two persons on e-bay but no luck so far so I need your help! Oh and the passenger door airbag went off! So I will have to replace this too but I am not worried about this for now... Thanks for your help! Pierrick
Good year eagle F1. I wouldn't blame it on the tyres! I was clearly going too fast, a moment of madness which will cost me dear!

Billzeebub
Luckily you were nearly home! Hope you get it fixed easily and cheaply. Does your car have PSM?
Jason986S
Live and learn I guess. We all get over confident and push it a bit sometimes. Shame it could prove expensive on a recent purchase. I'm sure you'll get the parts. Speak to Douglas Valley Breakers if you haven't already. Status Porsche too. Does your car have PSM? No I do not have PSM... it saved me a few times when i had the Z3... I believed it was standard on the Boxster when I bought it, if I had to do it again it would be on my must option list. 20 minutes ago, Jason986S said: Live and learn I guess. Status Porsche too. I just had a quote from douglas, I am waiting for more. It will probably cost me around 1K (500 for parts, 250 for used alloy wheel, 150 for new tyre, 150 for tracking). This or I make a claim on my insurance...

Ah, split rims. That explains it. They are much rarer than the usual 986 S rims. One of those could be had for around £100, which is what I was thinking of when you initially said. Under the bonnet I have L6B4 Y1. I believe L6B4 is the exterior paint which is Seal grey. So is Y1 the interior trim code? I can't find what it is... Thanks. Very ice guy and fair with his prices. I have everything I need to repair the suspention. Just need to find a wheel... Regarding the interior I have a spare airbag but still no door card. I have seen plenty on e-bay, will have to get the cheapest one... Also, does anybody knows if I need to replace any airbag sensor?? Mike seems to think I might need too but was not sure. Mike not sure why you hilighted X1 on the list... my car is definetely Seal grey, however I am still unsure of the colour code for the inside! Pierrick
Car is back on 4 wheels (used the spare wheel for now). Next will be to change the door card with a new airbag, get a new wheel, go to my local specialist to set up the tracking and reset the airbag light... Hopefully everything will go smoothly! mikefocke
The excerpt I posted was from the ordering guide for my car, not yours. Thus the X1was highlighted and not your Y1. I posted it because you had thought the Y1 was the interior color and this shows for a US car it wasn't.
