I got 40mpg once being towed when my clutch had gone.

What tyres do you have? I've noticed my mph rising with my sport contacts. Getting 25/26 on a Dales spring and roughly 27 the rest of the time but my cars a toy and I couldn't handle going 40 on a empty motorway.

The tyres are some cheap crappy budgets that came with the car. Planning to smoke through them and get some decent tyres on her.

So far driven to work, showing 31.1mpg and 296 miles till fill up. Should hit around 34 by the time I get home I think.

$250 Australian dollars doesn't sound too bad! I wonder how much Revolution would do this for.

That was 11 years ago!

MPG? What's that then?

Something you shouldn't really bother with when owning a  Porsche. But I just want to see what the potential is if I hypernile the car. On 34.3 and OBC says 325 miles till fill up. Have done 130ish mile so far I think. If if I could get 400 on a tank that would be awesome.

I'm still doing quite a lot of local miles and Bradford is very hilly which will ruin my mpg of course.

So far with mixed driving of town and motorway I have averaged 35mpg. If I didn't have to work in the city centre in the mornings I think it would be better than 35 but at least I have evening work which kinda evens things out. With cr*p budgets on that makes a difference as well so will be interesting to see if it changes next year when I get rid of these.

I did did see a high of 35.5 which was nice.

Best I've had from mine. Just over 20 miles in free flowing traffic around the M25, speeds were around 50mph for the duration.

Also pretty impressed after a recent 136 mile motorway journey, cruising between 75-80mph the entire way. Average speed across the entire journey was 71mph. Not bad for a 3.2L!

That's pretty awesome figures for a 3.2! :-)

Mine has averaged 35MPG - its showing 28 miles left in the tank, so I think I should fill it up now or shall I get it lower to around 20 miles left?

This has been mixed driving, around town quite a lot (and Bradford is quite a hilly place) and motorway for work in the afternoons. So 35 isn't too bad I'd say for mixed. I reckon I can match your 41mpg on a full motorway cruise.

It is great knowing you can actually get good mileage from these things.

80 mph, Towcester?

...he must mean Silverstone as otherwise it would be an endorsable offence officer ;)

Yeah I did think that.  Still 10mpg.   That’s serious enjoyment ?

I'm a right nerd with my boxster and have calculated its mileage every time I've topped up for the past 30,000 miles!  It's nearly always been 26-28 mpg (2000 3.2S).  A few months ago, it suddenly went down to 22 mpg.  Initially I thought maybe I'd been driving a bit more spiritedly but then after the third tank full at 22 mpg I took it to a specialist to check and an O2 sensor had failed.  Swapped out and back to normal.

35mpg average from a 2.5L is excellent fuel economy. I've got a 1.6 econobox as a daily drive, and that averages around 40mpg under the same driving conditions as you.

Just wondering what the 2.5 986 owners get approximately from a tank, I got 415 miles last night in perfect conditions (clear traffic, 180 mile journey, mainly motorway driving with some 50mph limits thrown in). But the on board computer said another 35 miles to go, albeit the fuel light had been on some time, so I didn't want to risk it. Now it's a 57l tank in the car and it was brimmed the last time I filled up, so the obc reckons i averaged 36.3 mpg. At one point I was over 38 until I blasted the last 20 miles or so.

A few questions

1. How accurate is the distance to empty calculator

2. There are two lights that come on when the fuel is low, I've never gone past the first but can you?

3. Is this particularly high fuel economy a sign that I may be missing some performance somewhere, I.e. coil packs knackered?

I realise I'm refreshing an old thread here, but rather that than create a new
